Where I live it is legal to do as long as the seat is equpiied for it and the airbags are turned off (airbags can kill a child in an accident very easily). I would check with your local police department, they would know the rules and can also help you make sure the seat is installed properly and safely, which is worth the short trip!

Congrats on your first baby!

You can go to www.seatcheck.org and find a certified car seat tech in your area that has taken a 40 hour class on properly installing car seats to help you learn how to best install the seat you have in your vehicle.

Check with your local law enforcement. States have different laws. But if you have a single cab pick-up where are you supposed to put them...lol. Its not really against the law to put them up front but its not recomened because of the airbags. If you have to put them up front then turn your airbag off.

One more thing, you can go to your local police department, and they will properly install the car seat for you, and tell you how to do it if you have questions. 90% of people have something wrong with the way they installed it.

We were told by the police that it was legal to have the car set in the front, as long as it was rear facing, there was no airbags on the passenger side or middle where the baby was going to be sitting AND there was no back seat. . .

My partner and I were told via the police that it's legal so long as there the car hasn't got airbags.

It is legal...but like Caitlin said make sure that you can turn off the airbags if it is equipped with them.
