Is it possible for a 17 month old to get his 2nd molars?

I swear thats whats going on with my lil man. He's drooling alot lately and chewing on his fingers. He has all his teeth, but the 2nd molars. He's even shoving his binkie as far back (off the side of his mouth) and chewing on it so much he's putting holes in them. Ideas?

My niece, had all her baby teeth in by 14 months. It was rough on them all constantly having teeth come in. She got it from her dad, who started having his first teeth com in at 6 weeks. So while it is not the norm, it is nothing to worry about.

Same goes with my son Ashley! He already has 16 teeth too and seems to be showing signs of the next set of molars! So early, but nice to be done with them!!!

Well that makes me feel better that some of your kids are going threw the samething. Although I guess I should say my son has 4 molars, lol. Their is another set of 4 called the 2nd molars. He has a total of 16 teeth. The other 4 molars haven't quite decided to come threw yet. I did get my finger back to check long enough before he clamped down. :)

My daughter is 17 months and has her 2 bottom molars (2nd molars) & has them starting to pop through on the top as well. Her doctor said it's a bit unusual for them to come in before the other teeth but it can happen.

Yes it possible, I believe my DS is getting at least one molar, he only has three bottom and two top, but he's chewing on his fingers way in the back of his mouth.

My son also has all of his teeth except his 2nd set of molars and has been acting like he's getting them lately too! He'll be 17 months on the 29th! There are no signs of them yet, but I don't think it will be too long! It's definitely early, but it's also possible!

My 17 month old has 7 teeth in fully and for the past week at least has had 2 molars one on each side on the top starting to come in. Its not uncommon thats for sure my friends son had almost all of his teeth by this age. Every child is different :)

I should post my own post, but just joined, my 17 month old (as of today!) has still only 6 teeth total in his mouth. He is constantly teething (chewing, drooling, biting), but only four front teeth on the bottom and two middle front on top. So, no molars yet to speak of.

Yes!!! we just visited our doctor and my 17 month old is not showing other signs of teething just cranky and he took a look in his mouth to find they were popping in with his 1st molars and the front ones too! He said they dont usually see it like this but IT HAPPENS =)
