My 3.5yr old suffering from chronic constipation for the last 12 months. She has dilated colon and has been medication since last yr. We have been to paediatric surgeon, paediatric gastro so, on.... But so far no luck except to continue to use laxative on daily basis. She had strict diet since 7 months old due to food allergy. She use to vomit a lot since 6 months old. I'm trying to restore colon muscle and restore natural colon regime but having not much luck....

Does any of you faced the same situation as us? To be honest I do not want to use laxative in long term because they create lazy bowel and make things worse....

I have tried herbs, pribiotics, oils, fresh veggie juice, yogurts, picoprep, pluralism husks, Metamucil, fruit juice, Vit C Vit t B12 etc... You get short term success then after 5 days she get's blocked up again....

Also, she's getting constant feet pain and back pain as well.. We've been to so many Dr's and Specialist and they don't even care about

her pains.....

Could you please help and advice me how to restore dilated colon and how to beat this chronic constipation without medications?

Please help us. Thanks

My 9 week old daughter had very hard stools and was screaming while pushing for over 1 week. We gave her Karo syrup....did nothing to help her. We gave her prune made it worse....she screamed for hours. Finally, I gave her flax seed oil. My pedi recommended 1/2 tsp in every bottle. After 3 or 4 bottles it worked like a charm!

Giv her her oatmeal cereal & prunes for 3 days. Switch her formula to Enfamil Infant (the yellow can), & see what happens.Stay with the prunes for 3 days to check for any type of allergic reaction. My son started on Similac Advanced from day one, & he was constipated 3 times in the 1st month of his life. We tried the thermometer technique...didnt work. Called doc & he suggested Pedia-Lax,, & it worked withing seconds. But, we had to do that 3 times withing the month & i swore i'd never do it again. I switched to theEnfamil Infant formula on my own, & he was fine ever since. Good luck.

We had this issue, and tryed giving extra water, and switched formulas many times, when our daughter was much older i learned of a abdominal massage routine that helped the bowels move faster, if done daily it was really helpful.

At 5 months you can start adding oatmeal cereal to the baby's milk. The fiber content in oatmeal is high and should help with the constipation problem.

I wouldn't go with orange juice, as the acid might give your little one a sore tummy. Prunes/Prune Juice should definitely do it.

Mix a half an ounce of apple or prune juice in her bottle, also she does not have to start solids yet, they say 4-6 months... I found my son got constipated when we started him on solids, but just a little juice in his formula & hes good to go. Something to think about.

my son still gets constipated now and he is 5 months old on solids. i always give him 5ml of pure freshly squashed orange juice. it works wonders. i swear by it and the health vistor agrees with me too.
