Rice Cereal Allergy???

It may sound weird, but I think my girl Lindy has rice cereal allergy. We started giving her formula once a day from last week, she doesn't like it, but no adverse reaction. Yesterday I fed her 1 table spoon of rice cereal mixed with formula using a spoon, when the mixture leaks out of her mouth, there is red rash around it. I wiped it off, the rash is gone in about 10 mins, no other signs of discomfort apart from the rash. Could it be rice cereal allergy? Anyone heard of it? Please advice.

My son did the same thing, then after a week he started having a lot of gas and spitting up. He can eat baby food but not rice cereal. Dr took him off. It might be allergies. Ask your Dr.

It sounds like sensitive skin, my son does that on occasion, with foods, druel... etc... I do not think an allegic reaction can disappear that fast, but you may want to check with your doctor. However, when my son gets a few bumps or irritation like that I have a cream/gel I use. Its called Baby Kisses and is for their cheeks and chin. It prevents redness or bumps for baby foods and his slobber (basically those two items dry out his skin causeing the irritation, his skin was not use to foreign things touching it) He doesn't have a prob now because he has tried all of the baby foods, but without seeing what your daughters rash looks like its hard to say. Hope you find a remedy

That is really weird. I have never heard of anyone having a reaction to rice cereal. I was under the impression rice is one food that anyone would have a reaction. Oatmeal, I have heard of babies reacting to them. What I would do is try feeding your baby the rice cereal using just plan water and spooning it into her mouth. If she reacts to it again then maybe she has very sensitive skin. My one niece has sensitive skin, whenever she gets spices or dressings around her mouth she breaks out with a rash.
Try it the way I suggested. It might be a good idea to take her in and get her checked out.
