Sex...Do you have to wait?

Well I wanted to wait but my boyfriend was going crazy and getting cranky. So after 2 weeks we started doing it again. I had a normal labor and just needed a few stitches from the episiotomy.

I wasn't able to get my 6 week check up because of some insurance problems so I probably would've felt like that time we would have waited for was for nothing. It was uncomfortable at first and we had to take it slow because it did hurt (even considering all the times we did it before I gave birth). But after awhile it doesn't hurt as much. It's been almost 4 months and it still kind of hurts when we start to but it gradually goes back to feeling as great as before.

Be sure to continue to use protection, though =)

I had a c-section and we waited about a week. I was feeling really emotional and needed to be close to my husband. Like everyone else has said, as long as it doesn't hurt go for it!

i didn't wait the whole six weeks after either one of my kids. We waited approx, 3 weeks. If you don't want to wait give it a try and be gentle at first. if it doesn't feel rite don't push it.

I would just go with your body. You know it better then anyone else. We waited 7 weeks I had a C section but my incision was higher on my abdomen, by my belly button. So I was very sore.

i waited about 9weeks, i had a lot of stitches as i had 3rd degree tearing. Of course it hurt a bit at first but eventually got better, It feels different now because of my scars.

I say if you feel ready go for it just remember to use protection cause you have a higher risk of getting pregnant again if you don't. I haven't tried myself yet and my son is almost 7wks old but thats only cause I have 2 kids now and don't want to have sex until I get birth control as I don't want more kids for a few years at least maybe at all and my husband won't wear condoms so he has to wait.

No, you do not have to wait. The biggest thing is to pay attention to what your body is telling you. They tell you 6 weeks as a guide. The best way I heard it I was that women were giving birth and having sex long before doctors existed. Who told them when it was ok to have sex again? Just remember to take it slow and pay attention to how you feel and how your body is reacting.

I say like everyone else, just listen to your body. A lot of women have sex earlier, but some can't. In my case, the birth was quite difficult and I had a 4° tear and got over 100 stitches so I waited almost 7 weeks (which was yesterday) and it was a little uncomfortable for me. But I know it'll get back to normal soon.

With my first child we waited until 5 weeks. Didn't have any problems. This time around I've bled longer...DD is 6 weeks and we still haven't had sex...

Go for it when you feel ready. Like everyone else has said, they were told different things. With my first, I bled for 5 weeks so I waited the 5. With my second, I only bled for 2 so we tried at 3 weeks. Choose to do what you want but remember the protection. The main reason they say wait is so that no infections occur. This is why they usually say wait 6 weeks and can confirm via a pap smear that you've healed properly. You risk infection by having a foreign item in your body. So use protection and you should be fine.

She wanted to make sure I had a normal pap, and she likes to make sure that the uterus is done shrinking...at least that is what she told me...I hope it's just not a torture thing. lol

I waited 3 or 4 weeks. it hurt a little at first but after awhile it was fine. as long as u are comfortable with it you should be ok. just make sure u use protection!!

I had a C-Section as well, and my doctor gave me an IUD the day after my 6 week checkup. I am surprised that yours said you have to wait 8 weeks. And as far as sex goes, I would wait the 6 weeks, and after that, I would go by what your body tells you!

My partner was more worried than what I was. We waited 4 weeks. I had a normal labour - 17 hours & had no stitches. So depending on how you feel, do what you think is right. If it six weeks, I'd say it's fine =) But I definitely agree with Amanda, listen to your body, if it hurts, stop! You don't want to do any damage

I had a c-section, I waited about 4 weeks. I am planning on getting an iud put in and my dr told me I should wait the 8 weeks until she puts it in. Well, I tried, didn't work. If you feel comfortable and it doesn't hurt, go for it. Just make sure to use protection!

They normally say 6 weeks to give yourself time to heal. After my first child, we attempted prior to that 6 week mark and it hurt for me. Plus you really have to make sure that you use some type of birth control because you have a higher chance of getting pregnant right now.

i had same question. My labor was normal and only needed one stitch. My six week app was 4/30 & we decided to give sex a shot the day before. It was a lil uncomfortable at first but once we got started it was just fine. But like everyone told me...listen to your body, if it hurts...stop, go slow, and lube it up and all should be well!! :)
