Should his belly button be leaking still?

My son's umbilical cord came off when he was 10 days old. It leaked yellowy brown liquid which the health visitor said was normal. He's now 4 weeks old and it's still leaking. It's not a lot, it doesn't drip out I only know it still does it because its on the inside of his baby gro. Is it normal for it to still be leaking? He has baths and we keep it clean. Could it be an infection? His belly button looks normal.



Any thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks

My daughter who is now almost 4 had this problem when she was an infant. It lasted a couple of months when i finally had the doctor really look and it ended up that part of the umbilical cord was left. This was keeping it from being able to heal all the way. The doctor removed it and it healed after. I hope this helps.

I am having same problem with my daughter who is one month and two week. it even have a red thing in it. the doctor said normal. Guess to have it reexamine

we r 4 weeks tomorrow too. my little boy's umbilical cord fell off when he was 5 days, however it is still leaking yellowy abit. i think i takes abit time to cure properly. anyway will ask our health visitor on next appointment.
