Heyy Everyone!! I had my very first little man Drake on March 16th, 2010 and was thinking of maybe going swimming this weekend. Im not sure if theres a recommended age for swimming or not as well as what can I do swim diaper wise?! Any comments are greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

I took my son "swimming" at 1 mos old. The smallest swim diapers I have seen are for 16lbs. I just put my son in rubber pants to go swimming with a onsey over it. You can find them at Wal-Mart, Target, grocery store, etc...

my pediatrician suggested waiting until at least 2 months old before going swimming...i'm probably going to wait until he's 3 months just because...sorry no advice on the swim diapers because we're not there yet...

I took my first to a waterpark hotel when she was 3 mos old. I had problems finding the swim diapers (live in WI, not much swimming going on in Feb in WI. lol) But I would think that the smallest size of the disposable swim diapers would fit your little one, cause they are super tight. The reason the YMCA says 6 months for classes is because then the babies usually have complete control of their neck muscles by that time and can hold their heads up. I don't think I'd see a problem taking your little one, but it might be a little cold for him and he probably shouldn't be in there too long. I would be careful of other kids in the pool because they tend to splash which could startle your little guy. Also, kids (even older kids) tend to not watch out for other people, even little babies, and will do silly things like cannon balls right next to you. So be on the look out.

public pool... i suppose ill just have to call ahead to find out but itd be at the Y.M.C.A

I'm not sure either, they do make swim diapers but I'm not sure how small they go. Is this a public pool for swimming or one in your own yard? I didn't take my first daughter to a pool until she was 6 months b/c I put her in a baby "swim" class and that was the youngest they allowed in the class.
