My son will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, A couple of days ago, i noticed he had a lot of white on his tongue, i thought it went away, but yesterday, and tonight, i noticed its still there... (i origin. thought it was remnants of milk). he has been nursing fine, but fusses a lot while doing so. Could he have thrush? Should i call doctor, or just wait it out? i read up on it and it says that it goes away in about 2 weeks naturally. but i dont want him in pain....

Funny, my little 'doll' had white on her tongue as while for almost the whole first month. Doctor told us it was normal and it would go away which it has. He told me you will know its thrush because u see it on their gums also. Enjoy ur new one

My daughter has thrush on her bottom. Took me a while to work out it wasn't nappy rash as a first time Mum... have anti fungal cream from the chemist and its clearing up ok. It doesn't seem to have bothered her too much. She is 4 weeks old.

Thrush should not hurt your baby. All it is, is a little yeast in the mouth. Most likely if he has Thrush, you will see it built up on his gums and the roof of his mouth. It probably is just leftover milk residue you are seeing on your baby boys tongue. Don't stress yourself too much.

try your son on abit of boiled (but cooled water) and if it doesn't disappear after an hour then it's thrush and needs medical attention.

my daughter is 1 month old and also has thrush. I took her to the doctor. She gave us a Rx to use 4x a day for until gone. It has been almost 1 week, the meds are almost gone, and the thrush is too. Since the 2nd day on her meds, i noticed she is not fussing as much. I suggest to take him in. I read up on thrush too, if nusing, it can also be painful for you, and you also have to apply ointment of some sort to your nipples to help prevent the thrush from continueing to spred. Again, i suggest you take him in to get it taken care of instead of letting it go away on its own.

i would say definately see your doctor. My little boy is 4 weeks now and has had it for about 2 weeks. The nilstat drops didn't work properly and now he has it down his throat and feeding is really uncomfortable for him. It won't go away on its own and is very contagious so steralise everything that goes in their mouth.

ive just gotton over having thrush on my nipples even though my daughter had nothing in her mouth, she still had to be treated to avoid passing it back and forth. it lasted two weeks and i was in tears the entire time and dreaded every feeding. it was more painful that birthing her for me! they'll most likely get you to give her nildtat drops in her mouth four times a day and if you dont have symptoms yourself, dab a little on your nipples. definatly visit your doctor!

Hi! I had the same with my baby girl...and it turned out to be thrush. I suggest you call the doctor. My baby was prescribed antibiotics to help it from spreading to other parts of her mouth and now she nurses better...less fussing!

Are your nipples ichy? you usually get it on your nipples as well if they have it. its very transferable, If your worried i would ask you doctor of midwife next time you see them we see ours weekly for the first six weeks. thats what there for. Good luck
