What do your March babies weigh now?

We just had our 4 month check last Friday, and Crosby weighed in at 15lb. 7oz. He is actually only about the 60% for weight, while our oldest (who's now 4) weighed in at a whopping 16lb. 7oz. at 4 months!

Babies only eat when they are hungry, although they may act hungry when they aren't if they have a strong sucking urge. However, by 4 months babies develop different cries for the different needs they have. Most mothers can identify these cries and besides, like the others said, you can't overfeed a child! That doc is on crack! (and it isn't the first time I have met a doc who tells you something different from what is right... I started passing softball sized clots at 9 days post partum and the doc on call told me this was NORMAL)

At 5 months my son is 22 lbs and about 26 in. My mother in law is a nurse and says there is nothing wrong with him weighing the same as a 2 year old and wearing 12 month clothes already. But she said that when he seems like he wants food it may not just be for food. In the hot sun he needs other liquids to keep hydrated to keep from getting sick. She suggested having another bottle thats a different kind than the ones I use for food for water, juice, or other liquids. but our milk would be the same as his food so is strongly urged not to give that go him unless I don't have his food with me at someone else's house. My son, Vasreuel, was born 8 lbs. 10 oz. and 21 3/4 in. tall. at 3 months is when we started him on some solids, he refuses to eat the cereal but loves peaches. We started him on solids at that age because we found him eating our chocolate bites we had left by his car seat. XD

my son was born on the 14th march at 8pounds 7 n a half oz..53cm long...he is a big boy,now 4.5months old..im not sure what it is in pound..if somebody could translate for me??he is now 8.5kgs..he is really tall boy and is in the 95% ilse..the nurse said he is a great size,very healthy little baby! he loves to eat pureed foods,once a day and is mainly breast fed,sometimes formula..

We went to Alanna's 4 mnth check up and she was 15lbs. 14oz. 27in long. She was born 7lbs. 8oz. 20 3/4in. long. The doctor told me she is above average in every aspect but when comparing her height to her weight she was considered tall and slim, but when you look at her she looks chucky.

My son Mikah is 4months on breastmilk, and baby oatmeal. he is 14lbs 14oz m 26inces......so an ounce away from 15lbs and the doc said hes perfect

Jacob was 4 months on the 27th and he was born at 7 lbs 2 ounces.. he is now 14 lbs 4 ounces.. and he is breastfed. My ped said to put him on cereal too so he is getting it once a day. He is short though.. 24 inches.. we are schedual fed.. he is happy though

He is not fat! My baby, Gavin Liam is also 4.5 months old he was born weighing 8 lbs 14 oz and now he is 19.4 lbs and 26 3/4 lbs. The doc said that he is not overweight he is just a big boy. he is in the 90th percentile for length and the 95th for weight. As long as his height and weight are close then he is not overweight. Gavin eats 2 jars of food a day plus 5 -6oz bottles, he is big but he doesn't look fat

Oh wow my neice is waaayy smaller than all your babies.She is 4 months today and we finally got her up to 8lbs even. 21 1/2 inches long still wearing newborn clothes. Hopefully we can continue getting some weight on her so she can catch up to all your lil ones. :)

whoa! i've never heard such thing.. feeding his fat cells?? hmmm... my daughter is 25 inches long, 4.5 months old and weighs 18.7 pounds, i give her cereal too, but she was a big girl before the cereal

My guy is 50% too. He is 15 lbs 6 oz and also was only 6 lbs and 8 oz when born and formula fed, and 26 inches. Sounds on track to me!!! Sounds like a crappy doctor, mine said wow he sure is growing but nothing negative about it.

my son is not a FAT 20lbs he TALL AND SOLID! the dr says he is in perfect condition and real advanced. his dad and i are both 6 feet so that might explain it:) im not worried but thanks for the info bc i am a new mom and just getting him on food today actually. hey how much do i feed him at one sittine??? until he doesnt eat anymore???

My baby was months on the 22nd. She weighs 16 pounds. My doctor doesnt fuss about her weight at all. She told me to start giving her oatmeal since she doesnt like rice cereal. I have fed her greenbeans and she LOVES them!

When my grandbaby spit up we switched formula to a sensitive stomache formuala..it's the similiac sensitive..she doesn't spit up anymore.

My grandbaby was born March 21..she is exactly same weight and height..and she is not a fat baby. We have tried some first foods like pears and applesauce..she really isn't in to eating anything but formula right now and we feed her when she is hungry. :)

my son was born March 29, 7 lbs 6 oz 20 1/2 inches long and I took him to the doctor on Monday and he's not 15 lbs 4.5 oz and 25 inches long

We just took our son in for his 4 month appt. He was 9lbs 10.3oz at birth and now weighs 15lbs 11.5oz and is 25.75". He has been strictly breastfed (on demand) until about a week ago when I noticed that his wet diapers were getting less frequent (I'm drying up) and thus we started giving him rice cereal. He's in the 75% for weight. Your baby MIGHT be a little big but I wouldn't fret. Formula fed babies tend to weight more than breast babies. Besides, once he starts crawling it's going to get used up in no time. I say keep at what you're doing and start adding in some fruits and veggies (just remember to wait 3-4 days between introductions of each).

My baby is 20 lbs at 4 months! I get the comment about him being sooo big all the time. I was worried at first thinking i was pre exposing him to be obese, but i was quickly corrected by my doctor and mommy group friends! He is just healthy! He caught a cold the other week and had no fever, no screaming, just congested. I caught the same cold after him and was down for the count! I think that it is because of his "healthiness" that he handled the cold so well! Keep on feeding him!

Raymond's 4 month appointment he was 26 inches and 17 lbs... he is eating now 8 oz every feeding (3-4 hrs) and once a day i add a 2.5 oz jar of food and he'll still down the 8 oz afterwards

Dam right! you feed your child what it wants. Its not like it is getting fat off take away food, and generally babies go through growth spurts and loose the weight anyway. There would be no way i would be putting up with a screaming, unhappy, hungry baby. I got told my son was overweight and to stop feeding him so much, but if they had bothered to measure him they would have seen he was above average in everything! Do what is right for your child and not what everyone else thinks. I certainly hope you complained to your regular doc when you see them next

My little guy was weighed on July 20th (4 months and 4 days) and weighed 14lbs 8oz (24 inches). His birthweight was 6lbs 14oz. He is just under the 50th percentile so my doctor said he is a bit under average. You have nothing to worry about!! I was glad to see other moms needed to start cereal too - Tanner just wasn't satisfied with liquids anymore.

My son owen is weighing in at 18lbs last time he went to the doctor, he is in the 99%isle for his weight, and the 95th%isle for his height and our doctor said he is fine, we feed him baby food, cereal, and a little bit of regular food!! He was born at 10lbs 2oz, so I wouldnt worry!! March babies are big boys lol!!

my son is 4 months and 2 weeks and he weighed in at 15 pds almost 16.....hes 26 inches long and eats 4 ounces every 2 hrs still but he sleeps thru the nite he gets 1st stage baby food at lunch time with 3 ounces of milk and he doesnt even hav very many baby rolls....the doc has never once told me i was over feeding him....i think its wrong for a doc to tell a mother to not feed their child when theyre hungry....besides its not like ur feeding ur 4 month old cheetos and lil debbie cakes....

Tate was born on 12th March weighing 9lb 10oz 20 inches long, he is a happy and healthy breast fed baby Demand fed who also has rice cereal once a day to just top him up. Started to feed him rice cereal at 4months as he was still hungry after feeds was interested in what we were eating and sits up well. He loves to eat and it keeps him happy.He now weighs 17lb 8oz and 26 inches. The doctor said that he was totally healthy and that all was well. Deffinately stick with your instincts and don't go back to that doctor again. Keep up the good work.

My son was born 3 1/2 weeks early and weighed 6lbs. 13oz. At his 4 month check-up he weighed 17lbs. 8 oz. He is over 18lbs, now. He is strictly breastfed.

My 4month old is exclusively breastfed and 7.03kgs or around 15pounds 7ounces and 63cms or 25inches. He's on the 50th percentile for weight and height in Australia :) We aren't starting solids until 6months old.

My Little Elijah was only 11lbs 23 1/4 in at his 4 month check up on the 18th. The dr had blood drawn to make sure hes not missing anything and the results came back that he's slightly malnurished. Anything he eats he spits up. I was exclusivly breastfeeding him but have since switched to formula for premature babys tried some solids and some rice cerial but it all comes back up. Anyone have anyclue what I can try to help keep his food down?

well my daughter who was born on march 11th was 15 pounds exactly on her 4 month check up. i am feeding her cereal in the morning and at night...and i just started on peas for lunch. my son who is now 4, was born april 7 2006 and weighed 9lbs 9 oz but i do know that he was a chunker...he weighed 16 pounds at his 2 month appointment...

My little guy hasn't gone in for his 4 month check up yet, but he had a trip to the emergency room almost 2 weeks ago and during that visit he weighed in at 17lbs 10oz. I think that when he goes in for his 4 month check up that he will be a little over 19lbs. You know when your child is hungry so I would continue to feed on demand because 16lbs is not over weight.

What is that DR thinking?! Of course babies will be chunky!! All they do is sit around, sleep, eat, and poop! The PERFECT couch potato! They don't exercise. :) They slim down when they get older and are more mobile. My son Mason was born 3 1/2 weeks early and he weighed 9 pounds. I went to the Doc last week, when he was 3 months/3 weeks and he weighed 18 pounds 14 ounces. He is 26 inches long. My doc was smiling when she said he was a chunky monkey. I strictly breastfeed and I am an "on demand" feeder. No cereal or any other sort of food until he is 6 months. He is rolling over and sitting up with a little support, so I must be doing something right. That DR must be oldschool. I know when I was a baby, they told my mother I was fat at birth and I weighed like 8 pounds!! LOL.

Chesney just turned 4 months and went to the dr today. She was 8.12 when born and is now 15.11 also 25.5 in. Dr said she is doing great and healthy. She is also formula fed (eating 4-5 oz evey 3-4 hours). I too feed on demand. I think you are the mom and as long as your doctor and you feel that your baby is growing and doing well, you are doing fine. You know your baby better than anyone else.

My daughter, Fiona, just had her four month check up, (she is 19 weeks old - born on March 15) but we waited for the check up as we wanted to see our doctor. She weighed in at 12 lbs 12 oz and is 25 3/4 inches long. The doctor had no complainants and she is eating cereal twice a day along with fruit and veggies once a day. Again, the doctor said that if she wants it to let her have it.

I got worried as a lot of people were telling me that she is too small etc . . ., but now I am fine since she shows no sign of being undernourished and the doctor is not worried.

My Liam (wow, we both have March '10 babies with the same name) is 4 months old exactly and he's 25 inches tall and 16.4 lbs. I breastfeed him and he's always drooling & reaching for real food and people's drinks. I haven't really tried any food on him just yet... just tiny tastes here and there.

My advice is to love your baby and KNOW he's gonna lose some baby fat once he starts becoming mobile. Liam's going to be ok.

We just had our 4 month check-up today. Our little girl is 26 inches (97%) and 13 lbs (40%).. I think if your child is only at the 50% mark you have nothing to worry about!

I think that doctor is a nut!!! My son was born on March 8th and was 9lbs when born. He is now 4.5 months and at his 4 month check-up he was 16lbs 12 oz and my doctor said he was healthy. He has been on cereal (only in mornings) since he was 3 months and I just started him on veggies and fruits a couple of weeks ago. He absolutely loves his food and get very excited when his bowl and spoon get brought out lol. I would ignore what that doctor said and go with your gut. If your little guy is hungry, then feed him=)

My daughter is 4 months and 2 days and weighs 17 lbs 9 ounces 16 lbs is fine, her doc said that its just because she isnt mobile yet and we will see her weight start flatlining once she becomes more mobile

I just went to the doctor's with my four month old and she is 16 pounds the doctor said she is healthy and happy. She drinks 5 61/2 ounce bottles a day and the doctor said we can start giving her water between feedings if she wants it. Hope this helps you.

ignore that doctor! feed your son when he is hungry! although you should check to see if he might be crying just to suck. i know Mikey is hungry when he eagerly takes the paci but spits it out and cries.

mommies know whats best! so i would wait and talk to your doctor when he/she gets back from vacation and talk to them about it. formula fed babies tend to weigh a little more anyways, but it sounds like Liam is average to me!

My daughter Abigail was born March 3rd and weight 7.11 and was 19 inches. She went to her 4 month check up (close to 4 months 3 weeks) and is 24 inches long and 14lbs even. She just started wearing 6-9 mo sleepers and is still in 3-6 month onsies and outfits.

I think it is so ridiculous when Dr's say that babies are too big. :( Both my girls were big babies and they have no issues with weight as a 6 and 5 yrs old. My son, was just 4 months on Friday and he weights 16.1 lbs and is 26.5 inches tall. Dr forgot to tell me what his percentile was. He was born at 9.3 lbs and 20.5 inches. He is only on breastmilk right now. I tried rice cereal a couple of weeks ago but he didn't want it so I haven't tried since. I always thought that solids were not supposed to be started until 6 months? I only tried it with him to see if he could go longer sleeping.

I think your baby sounds reasonable... my Sheldon weighed 18 lbs 14.5 oz at his 4 mth checkup and our doc says not to worry about him being heavy right now... once he starts really moving some of the weight should come right off and if it doesn't then we'll worry about it

My son was born on March 1st and he was 52 cm long and he had 4,3 kg. Now he is 72 cm long and he have 9 kg.
I don't think there is anything wrong with him!
