My son like backyardagins…he will sit the whole time and watch them dance, and sing…
People are surprised that he will sit/lay the entire time..

Backyardagins is the only show he will do that with….

Well I live in Canada so I guess I don't have ti listene to the AMA, and I can let my little guy watch a few cartoons, that I believe won't hurt or hinder him in anyway

I don't let Daniel watch tv. He listens to music, I sing to him and read to him but my pediatrician cited a report by the American Pediatric Association that children under two should not watch tv. It inhibits their development. I tend to agree, whenever the tv is on Daniel just zones out and stares at the screen. He stops moving, talking, etc and just stares. So no tv for Daniel, not until he's two.

My little guy absolutely adores Sesame Street! The minute he hears the theme song he is all smiles :o) Elmo and Ernie are his faves!

I agree with Marissa. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that kids under 2 years old not watch any TV and that those older than 2 watch no more than 1 to 2 hours a day of quality programming.

we don't have cable so there arent kids shows on all that often, but movie-wise my daughter likes baby einstein (of course), ponyo, my neighbor totoro, and anything thats heavily music based (musicals, disney, etc). she really won't sit and watch for very long though. maybe 30 minutes then shes bored.
I don't believe the whole taboo on babies watching tv under 2 either. I mean it's one thing you let them sit in front of the TV all day long and that's the only thing they do, but i really don't see it being detrimental otherwise. As long as you still play and read and do other "good" activities as well. How can you keep your kid from watching TV until they are 2 anyway? The TV is ALWAYS on in our house and it's in the living room where my daughter plays.

I think lots of "experts" say all sorts of things and it's up to the individual to decide what their child will do. I don't see anything wrong with 1/2 hour to an hour of T.v. while I do the house work lol. I wouldn't be too worried about it "experts" also said alot of things were safe that have turned out not so safe.

Kristy Jones.. LOL Im sorry, my fiance is the same way with Family Guy! ugh... My 5 y/o niece EVERYTIME she comes over she KNOWS I have a variety of good movies she can watch, but she INSISTS she has to watch Family Guy (because theres a baby in it) My answer stays the same NO!

Ethan, my son, is watching Sesame Street. I can take a shower, but he cries the second I'm in the tub, so I naturally let him cry it out. Since we discovered Sesame Street for him, my problem has been solved. I can do SOOOO much because he's so busy watching that show :) In the early a.m. we watch whatever's on PBS kids. :) Such cute shows in the morning, my personal fav is the dinosaur train. I think it's so cute & educational :)

My son is in love with Special Agent Oso. Every morning when it comes on his eyes get big and he smiles. Only Oso can get him to do that. :)

My little girl doesn't pay too much attention to the television. She'd rather practice scooting around her play mat and trying to get at the toys, but she doesn't cry if we leave her alone for half hour at a time, so it isn't a big deal. I've caught her watching all sorts of programs for short spurts, though. She likes Sesame Street, Between the Lions, Mickey Mouse Club, Ponyo, and Cars the best. She finds Lion King boring, but she'll watch the musical numbers. Most of our viewing is determined by the 2 1/2 year old. Thankfully, the little one doesn't mind.

My son isn't too much into tv yet, but he does like Curious George...He will sit in his bouncy chair and watch the whole thing without a fuss...Anything else he doesn't bother with which is just fine with me...I don't want him to be glued to the tv all day=)

My son likes disney movies (only the ones with music and alot of it) - Baby Einsteins and because of my LOVING husband he likes Family Guy (which he needs to stop watching in front of him!!!) - oddly, when the character Stewie is on - my son giggles or laughs - yeah husbands in trouble on that one.

When my son does watch T.V. - its not usually the whole thing, just when he wants too (example with disney - when ever a song is on, he won't miss that)
