When is it ok to start giving your baby a little bit of water?

My daughter will be 4 mons on the 7th and my pediatrician said it was ok to give her 1oz of water for each month shes been born so right now she can have 4oz of water a day....she doesnt like it that much so she only ends up drinking like 1-2 oz.

My son was born March 17, he is formula fed with cereal in his bottles. We started feeding him half a jar of stage 1 baby food at dinner time. My pediatrician had us give him 2 ounces of prune juice to deal with constipation for several weeks & he loved it. Just recently I have let him try water, he seems to like it too. My concern is how much to give him, should it take the place of once of his feedings???

Yeah, i had heard this also and i asked my pediatrician. He said just to remember that giving him water is taking place of nutrients because it will fill their tummy instead of food/formula/milk.

Hi Jennifer. My husband and his family are mad baby water fans. My Dr said that if you are breastfeeding no need but if u want to no harm no foul whenever u want.

Yes, I am nursing I have heard people mentioning giving their baby an ounce or two of water but I haven't done it and thought I might when she is six months and starts on some solids

Are you nursing? I didn't give water to my son until he was around 10 months. Baby's that are nursing don't need it
