My son just turned a year old and he still does not use a blanket. We hadn't given him one because, him being our first, I was always paranoid about everything. Then as he got older, he was a very difficult sleeper. Now that he is 1, he's finally starting to sleep better (although he still wakes up once a night for a bottle). I hadn't introduced him to a blanket because he is very prone to distractions. Basically, if anything distracts him, he stops eating or fights sleep. I was afraid if I tried to introduce a blanket to him while we were having so many sleeping issues with him, that it would just distract him from sleep even more...and I REALLY needed him to sleep. Now that he is a better sleeper and I don't have to worry about SIDS anymore, I want to give him a blanket. But, I'm afraid something new in the crib will distract him from sleep. He's never had anything in there with him. Has anyone else held off on introducing a blanket to their babies?
