Anyone feel like they've got a routine or schedule happening yet?

My daughter is 6 weeks old this week, and I'm still just letting her eat whenever she's hungry and sleep whenever she's tired (both of which seem to be all the time!). I was so happy once I had gotten my son (who's two now) on a routine eating/sleeping schedule, but I can't remember what age that finally worked out for us. Is anyone's March baby already pretty scheduled?

Goodness NO! LOL My daughter is 11 weeks. She has figured out night and day, and is co sleeping with us for about 4 hours at a time without nursing. But other then that I feed her whenever she wants and she naps when she wants. I will start to schedule her at 3 months, which is 2 months earlier then we did with our son. I am hoping that is not too early and she gets it quickly. Our son is the best sleeper ever. So we have high hopes she will be too.

It depends on the day lol. generally my 10 week old goes to sleep earlier now (around 8 or 9) then she wakes up around 12/1 and then again at 4. but as long as its the same every day im happy.

My son is 7 weeks, and tho we're not on a "schedule" yet, there definitely seem to be starting to see a trend. I don't remember when my first baby finally settled into a routine, but it was definitely before I started solids. My first son was also sleeping through the night at 12 weeks too, so it must have been before then, or around then.

But I'm like you at this point--I'm nursing when he's hungry, and letting him sleep whenever. As he's awake more and more, I'm thinking his naps will consolidate here in the next month.

I agree w/ Jennifer about waiting until introducing solid foods. If you're Bf'g , the breast milk is more efficiently digested than formula, meaning? Your baby may need to be fed more often for a while (until those solids come into play). W/ my 3rd son here, I am trying to let him get to 2.5hrs between feedings during the day. During the night/early a.m. he only wakes about twice to actually eat.

My baby is 8 weeks yesterday and I just got the "Gina Ford" book out as I am uncertain when to introduce a routine, she feeds all evening up to around 11, then wakes at about 4am and is then awake for about an hour before topping up and going back to sleep. This is baby no.4 and her sister is 3 years old so it's hard to get organised. Others are 11 and 14. Xx

My daughter has just about the same night time schedule as yours, Jennifer. We usually get her to bed around 10 or 11 (hopefully we can inch this earlier soon!) and she wakes up once a night, usually at 4 or 5, then sleeps until 7 or 8. I'm really enjoying this, as my son was up several times a night at that age. It's just the day time where it doesn't seem like we have any schedule at all!

My daughter is now 7 weeks old as of yesterday and she has been on a pretty good schedule for a few weeks now. She eats about 10pm and then we lay her down to sleep. She will sleep until between 5-7am. I get up and feed her and she sleeps another couple of hours. This way I get a full nights sleep. I let her sleep when she wants through the day mostly however we keep her awake playing in the evening for tummy time and singing adn what not so she sleeps the whole night.

After she starts eating baby food or baby cereal (real "filler" foods) would be a better time to start trying to get her into more of a routine. That way she won't wake up or be hungry as often when she begins to eat real foods, as she is being filled up longer.
