Confused on how far along I am...

I got told that I was 15 days late on my period and I'm always regular.. I had taken 3 specimen bottles in and the nurse had told me all 3 of them came back positive and that I was pregnant I asked how far I was she had says I am 5 weeks I am now 8 weeks and I'm wondering if someone can tell me when I will be due as I have forgotten my last period date, I had given them the date which I had thought was correct but I don't know the accurate date:( can someone help me x

can someone help me i may be pregnant im trying to figure out how far along i am if i do the online calculations by my last period which was march 11 it says im 4 weeks and 1 day but if i go my when i ovulated which was the 2nd it says im 3 weeks and 1 day. my cycles are about 32-36 days im just really confused i dont remeber it being this confusing with my first baby

Shortly after posting this I found out WHY i measured ahead...TWINS!!! lol So...question being answered I'm locking this baby up! Thanks Ladies!!!

I would go by what your ultrasound is telling you. It all depends on when you ovulate. Me, i ovulate VERY late. My OBGYN told me I was due Feb 13th and the ultrasound told me March 5th. That's 3 weeks difference! The ultrasound is a more precise way of measuring your baby and getting a more exact due date.

I'm a bit iffy on using LMP dates as there are based on the assumption that you have a regular 28-day cycle. I USUALLY had a 28-35 day cycle after having my son, and it got even longer some months due to the stress of trying to get pregnant again.
Also, if you have a longer cycle than normal (eg 30+ days) then there is a good chance your bub will be measuring half a week or so behind on an early scan.
Myself, my LMP would be putting me at 22 & a 1/2 weeks right now, when I know I ovulated 9 days late and only got HCG levels of 29 on day 1 after my period was due, but bub is only measuring at 21wks 3d and has been for most of the pregnancy, unlike my son where I couldn't remember the exact date of my last period but was within a few days of either side of it in my estimations and he was always measuring well over a week ahead of dates and had HCG levels up in the high 300's approx 1-2 days after my period was possibly due.

The best I was told how to get your due date to know how far along you are is you first start from the "first day" of the last period you had. You then count back 3 months and then forward 7 days. So for me, my last period was June 21st. Count back three months is March 21. Then go forward 7 days and you get your due date and thats how you know how far along you are. This is my second time around and I was confused the first time. So for this one, I got an app on the IPhone called "I'm expecting" and it helps keep track of how far along I am. Ultra sounds are nice to confirm too. But a word to the wise, more then 80% of people don't have their babies on the due date given to them. Hope that helps :)

big baby.... your ultrasound will give a better pic and sometimes women will still get their period after theyve fallen preggers this may be what has happened to you

I was going to say that I thought i was 9 weeks and wound up finding out today that I'm 12 weeks that my last "period" must have been spotting. But twins! Congratulations!!!

Hi there! Im a little confused with mine too. I went for a scan at 9 weeks and they said i was measuring 6 weeks (so that means I concieved when my next period was due). If you want to count from my last period which was June 2nd I would now be 15/16 weeks and not 12...Its all very confusing. I still go by my dates because I know when my last period was and when abouts I concieved. The ultrasound technician can be wrong. Might just be a big baby?

I have to laugh, I had my ultrasound today and everything makes perfect sense now! I am indeed only 15 weeks and 2 days along according to my ultrasound. BUT, my uterus does indeed measure 4 weeks further along than I actually am. But, two babies in there will make it bigger everytime!!! I'm having TWINS!!!! Really excited, but laughing about all the confusion, the ultrasound tech couldn't understand why on earth I would be having an ultrasound to find out the sexes so soon...until she saw two heads!!!! :)

Your last period might just have been spotting... and not an actual period. The first ultrasound measurement of the baby is normally quite accurate!

From my clalculations I would say that you are 15 weeks now. You go from the first day of your last period. I wouldn't listen to the midwif, I would get a second opinion. It sounds like she can't add up. The ultrasound people will measure the baby and tell you how far along you are from the lenght of the baby. Good luck and I hope all goes well tomorrow.
