How long does it take for your period to go back to normal after having a baby?

With my first son, who is now 2, I bled the first month then 2 days didn't have anything, then bled for a week, then didn't have it a week then it came back. After those first 2 months mine went back to normal (I guess it was just luck!). With my 2nd son, born May 30, I bled whole first month, then nothing the next 4 weeks then it came back and I've had it for 2 weeks straight.

It is very specific to you. I did not get a period for 15 months after my 1st and I still haven't had one this time either. I don't have ins. either, if your worried check your area for a free clinic or call and ask how much for an office visit, it might not be too much. Or check Planned Parenthood to see if you can pay on a sliding scale.

Yes its normal for some. It can take up to 12 months for your body to get back into a proper rhythm again. If you are breastfeeding then it could take until a few months after you finish breastfeeding. For me, I got my first period 4 weeks after I had my baby on 23 March, and its been monthly ever since. Its very heavy and lasts 4 days. I am breastfeeding on demand, that includes through the night, so I'm very surprised and feel ripped off! The cramps are heavy too.

I had my little girly on the 30th march and my period has only just returned 3 days ago she is my fourth and this is the only time I have gone so long after the birth normally have them couple weeks after

Please get insurance & see what the problem is with your period..you have to see a doctor for anything! Just to make sure everything is ok. I'm sure it will get back to normal..it's just going to take some time.

Well I had my baby on March 3rd I bleed the entire month of March...and than I didn't bleed in April...so starting in May I would get my period at the first of the month.and it has been the same every month....I also started back on birth control pills to...you may want to try that ...cause it may help you regulate your periods each month! Are you on Medicaid since you don;t have insurance......?

My baby is one day older than yours. I did the same thing for the first couple months. One week on one week off. Then all the sudden this month nothing. I would not worry about it.

If you are exclusively breastfeeding, your period will not come back for a while. In my experience, the length of time I was nursing was proportional to the length of time that I did not have my period. The lesser time you breastfed, the more chance your period is coming back sooner. If you are not nursing at all, it comes back usually between 2 to 3 months and it can be very irregular for some and for others it could be as normal as they had it before their pregnancy.

It differ from individual , my first child, it took seven months before my first period and it started normal . The second which is recent 9th march I had it on the third month and not normal every two weeks . Am wondering because they are triplet I can tell. Yet still I have to see a doctor

I had my twins on March 16th and just got my first period July 23. I agree that everyone is different and as long as you're not bleeding extremely heavy or having unusual pain your body will probably regulate itself within a few months.

I had my daughter on March 10th and so far my period has beenn pretty normal but she is my second. With my son, who is 2 and a half I first didnt have a period for three months (and he was formula fed) then once i finally did get it I bled for 3 1/2 weeks. and then after that it was spotting alot of the time until my son was about 7 months old. I went to see my ob-gyn and she said that every woman is different and that as long as I wasn't feeling abnormal pain (more than menstral cramping) then it would straighten itself out!....and it did! I hope this helps you...but if you are really concerned or are experiencing a lot of pain then I would see a doctor regardless of insurance because you gotta stay healthy for your little one!
