Was due yesterday...

Where on earth is she? :)

I have been convinced all along that she'd be early, despite my doctor telling me he'd see me post dates. (My husband and I are pathologically early for everything and I've been having false labour every night for about 3 weeks...)

What's more, now that everyone else in my birth class, exercise class and circle of friends and acquaintances has had their baby, even if they were due long after me, I feel like a bit of a failure. (I realise this is silly, but... You know...)

Am (kind of) starting to understand why people go C-section.

Is anyone else running late and feeling flat and unprepared?

hey my first was born on his due date and everyone told me my seond would be early. i started having false labour at 37 weeks. my son was eventually born 12 days late by emergency c section i would say keep walking but i worked right up until my inducion date which involved walking 5 miles a day and it did nothing, if you have a breast pump try using that and eating pineapples as that worked on my first but then it didnt work on my second. get close to my partner 'softened' my cervix which made the induction a bit easier but otherwise nothing worked and i tried everything

i know this can be a frustrating time my cousin and sister in law where both due the same day as me and one had her baby 11 days early and the other 3 days early but you just have to realise baby will come when ready otherwise its only 12 to 14 days to wait till hospital induced you if you have to be induced prepare for a c section its apparently very common and not good if your not prepared. good luck and i hope things start for you soon

I was never really late with my kids but I did walk a lot and so some house work. Most of thouse that I know were due 3 weeks after me so they have not yet had their. I will say this once you do except it its much better and you will go into labor and if you feel that false labor just start doing what ever you can. Mine did not hurt much so though it could be fasle but they keeped comming consitantly so I started doing dishe, laundery even cleaned our bathrooms. Low an behole once I sat down they started comming like 7 mints apart. Fianly convised my self that this must be it and went in. They only keeped me becase I was 5 cm diated and they were some what consitant. I had to have my water broke.

Don't worry about being a bit late they will not let you go too late befre indusing you. And think of it this way you will have a strong healthy baby then if you went early. He or she may not have been ready if you got incsed or had a c-section. Hope you have a great labor and enjoy your little one when it comes :)

My advice is to keep up with the "induction-by-willing-husband" LOL. Seriously though I was soo uninterested in sex near the end and finally gave in and decided to give it a go and sure enough exactly 1 day early, my little man made his appearance. Good luck, I know that it's very uncomfortable near the end, but it will come and you will recover much, much faster not having a c-section :)

Thanks so much, Cori. I feel better reading your post - esp since you know exactly what 40/41 weeks feels like.

Twice!

I do feel screwed. And so big! And so many of my family members and friends have had elective CSs that no-one's ever *seen* a woman at 40 weeks before. Argh.

Have tried: spicy food, exercise, speed bumps, coloffyllum tablets, and even induction-by-willing-husband, if you know what I mean, so pineapple and raspberry leaf tea should be next on my list.

But actually, stuff it. I'm just gonna get onto the couch and wait. And try not to yell at the well-meaning folk who keep bloody phoning to find out where the baby is.

'Do I look like I know?'

my first born was born on his due date, this second pregnancy my daughter was 3 days late... i know how you feel with everyone due after you having their babies first!! i had 2 close friends both due 4 and 5 days after me and they had their babies 2 and 3 days before my due date!!! i felt screwed like uh i was due first, i should have my baby here first!!!

but girl, just start walking everywhere, and relax. once i accepted the fact that my daughter was tardy to her due date party i went into labor (literally, with in 4 hours of truly accepting it) i drank raspberry leaf tea 3-4 times a day from 38 and half weeks and i ate like 5 pineapples over that 3 weeks trying to start labor.. oh and tons of spicy food!! in the end, i just needed to relax and realize that mother nature has her own schedule and that there is a reason that my daughter didnt come any sooner or later!
