Certainly not before 4 months and if u start before 6 months you must make sure that the food is gluten free ( gluten is found in bread and pasta etc) and early exposure to gluten can lead to ur child having coeliac/ celiac disease. Where you can not eat gluten in ur diet without you becoming really I'll. I wasn't told this and my daughter was fed rusks mixed with formula at 5 months and she now has coeliac disease!
They do generally say to wait until 6 months now as that she when their digestive system can handle food without any damaging affect.

I have generally gone by the rule . Waiting till your baby has teeth when we get teeth our babies make the acid ivolved in digestion . Which most get around 6 month good luck your doing a great job . Asking questions is the best way to be a better mum :-)

No earlier than 4 months is ever recommended, 6 months is what Ive been told is better, and some even say wait until a year.

she talks a lot about breastfed babies but states in the start of the article that its beneficial for formula fed babies to delay solids as well.

Health Canada doesn't recommend you start solids until 6 months of age. Babies stomaches and intestines are not developed enough to digest and absorb the nutrients from the food properly before that age.
