If so what did you find it was, did you goto the doctors and what helped?

I had my little girl (Now 6 weeks old) to the doctors last week due to screaming out in pain around the same time evening/night. I wasnt sure if it was colic or if she had some reflux too. She is bottle fed and does get wind up when I wind her every other oz.

She has some signs of silent reflux such as spitting up (not a lot just a little) .. sometimes she will cry when feeding and wont drink her bottle although seems as though she is starving when she sucks her dummy, she gets the hickups a lot and seems uncomfortable when laid flat (which is mainly on a night when in her moses basket she grunts, strains and fidgets)

She often does a little cough which can sometimes be followed by sick too.

Ive been putting dentinox drops in her bottles and the doctor gave us infant gaviscon although I havent put it in every feed (only the day time ones) as ive read it can make them constipated! .. speaking of constipation she only ever fills her nappy once a day and Im wondering if maybe this is causing her some discomfort too? - She is not constipated when she goes but will sometimes cry before or after going (not all of the time though)

She did stop the screaming on a night for quite a few days although its started again now and she is also quite teary and fidgety through the day.

I just dont know what is wrong with her, I just cant stop worrying and its getting me upset because whatever we do doesnt seem to help her at all! I just wish whatever is wrong with her I could have instead.

Id be very greatful for any advice or to hear your experiences.

Hey Vickey,

My son has all of those symptoms, he was diagnosed with reflux when he was a couple of months old. my doc put him on axid and hes been fine ever since. they tried rice in his bottle at first, to keep his food down, it didnt work and it just make him REALLY constipated. My doc is gonna ween him off at six months, hes 5 months now. good luck

My little girl is 8 weeks now, and she's particularly fussy/gassy/uncomfortable a lot of the time too. I find that if I feed her lying down, she gets gassier, so try sitting her up a bit more when she eats. Infant massage is wonderful, and she loves being touched, I just gently rub her belly in slow circles, going in a clockwise direction. If you do it long enough you can start to feel the gas bubbles moving towards the exit :) It also helps with bowel movements. My daughter also only poops once a day, and I've been told it's normal, so I try not to worry about it. She strains and pushes and she cries, but I've noticed that if I give her Gripe Water it helps her out a lot. It's all natural and safe for babies a week old. I give her the dosage mixed in an ounce of water and it helps her with gas and bowel movements. The extra water gets things moving easier for her. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Im not totally sure what this could be although i do have experience with the infant gaviscon. My 7 week old daughter has really bad acid reflux. when she was 4 weeks old she brought up some feed which she chocked on and her airways shut had to rush to A&E ectt.....nightmare! The doctor did want to give her any unnecessary medication so sent us home but she was still screaming in pain the next morning and struggling with the amount of feed she was bringing up so i went to my GP and he prescribed the infact gaviscon which made her pretty constipated, although did help with her reflux. i used it for around 3days and as soon as i started to notice that her reflux had settled slightly i discontinued use. i figure if her reflux had settled why put her in more pain with constipation. So why don't you give the gaviscon a go, also try lying her on her back and gentle cycling her leg or slowing rubbing your hand round her tummy in a clock wise motion. Hope you LO feels better soon!xxx

You said she's bottle fed- have your tried changing her formula and/or her bottle (dr browns are the bomb, really helped my second child who had a gas problem).
I have also had some success with baby massage (you can look it up on youtube, pretty easy, nice to wind down after a feeding and before bed) specifically with the bowel movements and gas related discomfort.
I don't have experience giving my boys those medications, I don't really know much about them, but if they can cause constipation, i would try another formula (with the drops) and see if that helps.
I hope you guys get some relief. :D
