Hey, my son Kurt was in the hospital for the first 7 months. He was born with a rare heart defect, Hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Plus (what kept us in the hospital) he has Chronic lung disease so he was on a ventilator and had a tracheotomy that entire time until we got to go home.

My son was born with a heart defect and has had 2 surgeries to repair. We have spent about a total of 45 days, I guess. About 1 month when he was born which was really painful to not even get to take our newborn home or even hold him until he was 5 days old. The second surgery at 9 months was a little easier because we knew what to expect. He is now almost 2 and will have to have another surgery next summer (approx) and will probably be there for a week and a half to two weeks. I am really worried about that one since he will understand a little but not enough. How old is your son? How long has your son been hospitalized?

my baby spent 62 days in the hospital! She was 10 weeks early and only weighed 2 pounds 8 ounces. My daughter didn't have short bowel syndrome, but we can still talk! Ask away!
