Even if you can\'t actually be at the walk, which is taking place in most cities across the country on Sunday, April 26, you can be a \'virtual walker\'.\r\n\r\nSimply go to www.marchforbabies.com and create your own personal web page. It is easy to do (if I can, you certainly can)! Don\'t forget to post your webpage link on your Facebook page, too.\r\n\r\nGood luck and let me know if you have any questions!!!\r\n-Jodi\r\n

I've already registered and gotten 5 ppl on my team. I've sent out emails. I'm going to go around my church family and my husband works at an ambulance club so I will be asking them. But it seems like its going really slow. If you can message any ideas for picking up speed on getting donations and more sponsors, thatd be amazing!! Its my first time and I really wanna start with a bang and keep outdoing myself!

So tomorrow is my walk.... last year my goal was 500. and I raised 525! So I figured this year I would set my goal at 1,000. well I haven't reached my goal, but I did raise 675.00!!! I tried everything I had my banner up on facebook and myspace and posted bullitins on myspace always put it in my "what are you doing" section.... even posted my banner in some friends comments. I was so disappointed in the turnout. I can't even tell you how many emails I sent out, even sent ones out last night for maybe some last min donations, got 50.00 I am the mother of a preemie and I can't stress to people enough how much this cause means to my husband and I!!! And the thing that bothers me the most is the family that hasn't donated.... knowing what we have been through. Anyways there is my rant on donations.... I guess there is always next year right!

Quoting Jennifer:

I will be doing the walk.... mine is May 2nd here in SWFL.  My only problem is that this year we are having such a hard time raising money!! Any suggestions??

Hi Jennifer! I am having a terrible time this year as well, but here are a few tips

Our family team sets up the on-line fundraising page for our out of town friends, that helps alot.

Then I also do bake sales at my church and invite churches in the area when I am having a sale, you can hit up the nieghbors as well and have a "traveling sale":-)

You can also make Christmas backets with donated things from stores, or things you have acquited thru the year, like gift certificates and lotions from bath & body works, then when you have  family and friends together for the holidays sell them tickets for the basket, draw a number and whoever wins get's the basket. (I plan on doin that one this year.) Keep in mind that your fundraising can go on all year long, money isn't just accepted on "bank day" before the walk.

Kiada,
So glad you'll be walking!!! With regards to raising more money, you may want to personalize your web page on marchforbabies.com. If you have a story to tell, tell it! If you have a picture to post, post it!! AND KEEP SENDING REMINDER EMAILS to your friends, coworkers, family, friends of friends, etc....Being on FB has increased my donations by several hundred dollars - old neighbors who I haven't seen in 25 years gave me some money (which I wasn't expecting), as an example. POST YOUR PERSONAL WEBPAGE LINK ON YOUR FACEBOOK SITE.
Best of luck to you on 5/2 in MD!!!

Use the Online Fundraising Tool by going to MarchforBabies.com and registering.  Send emails, send emails, send emails!!!  If you have a personal story (or know of one) to share, that's always powerful.

Send emails to every email address you have.  Ask some of your friends to forward your request to their colleagues and friends.  Even if you only get 5 additional sponsors, it's worth it!!!

Good luck!

Where do you find out where the walks are being held?

I love doing the walks for March of Dimes, it is i hate asking people for money especially since the economy is down right now. I usually bring my kids with and they walk or run with me. All of my kids were born only 2-3 weeks early but i still think of the other parents that go thru the tough times when there child is born to early and have medical problems.

I have never been able to attend the walk but I will create my own personal web page in honor of my six year old son who was born at 34 weeks. He has had a very rough road and still has one ahead. Michelle Gilliam
