My hubby is a recruiter and we are stuck in a small town in Ohio. We just had a baby boy in June and have a 2nd one on the way. Life has been hard in the civilian world, it's hard to meet people and make friends when your a stay at home mommy and not have all of the luxuries of a PX or MCX or safe parks or places to go to meet people. Any advise from someone who has been stuck in the recruiters life?? Well just wanted to vent to anyone who cares to listen.

Recruiter's wife here as well. Are you in a PCS? I am and it's hard being the only one that has to drive far.You should make friends with the other wives and attend as many functions as you can. Host dinner at your house.

Hi. I'm a recruiter's wife in Rapid City, SD. We happen to be able to live on Ellsworth AFB, but most people look down on us because we're "lowly Marines" and not the "perfect Air Force." *note there is sarcasm in there* Having gotten the cold shoulder (sometime only lukewarm) at many of the base funtions, I looked for stuff to do in Rapid City. The public library has story times, one of which is designed from children ages 0-3. This fits my children perfectly. My other suggestion is to find the town hall (or equivalent) and see what programs are in the town (like Mommy and me classes). Hope this helps.
