Ok...first year going to the ball....I've been hugely preggers every other time and not felt like going. But anyways, whats the attire like??? I've heard different things. Some ppl say formal, others say they've worn a cocktail dress. What's the dresscode for the affair?

It depends on the command a bit, but anything formal usually works. This year I'm wearing a cocktail lenght LBD (Little Black Dress). In past years, I've worn long dresses. When I go looking for a long dress, I usually find a bridal store and look through the clearance bridesmaid dresses. As long as what you are wearing is respectful of the formality of the occasion, you will be okay. One year, I saw a woman wearing a "formal" mu-mu.

Commonly, military ball requires long dress since this is a formal event. I have not attended one yet where ladies wore short dresses. But keep in mind that, this type of event needs less showing off of skin. You must dress respectively. You might want to see the dresses at this site http://www.therosedress.com/Evening/Mili...

Yeah, either way will work. I've been to 4 balls and I've seen people go both ways. Some of the younger guys bring their girlfriends who go all out like it's the prom times ten but there really isn't any need for that (unless you really want to, lol). It's fun to get dressed up but the ceremonies can get pretty long so make sure it's comfortable to sit in!

I have been to many balls since my husband and I have been military for 11 years. You can pretty much go with either a cocktail dress or longer formal gown. You will more than likely see both at any ball you attend anywhere. I would just suggest that it be classy...nothing too revealing that would put undue attention on yourself and your spouse. You do not want to be the one remembered from the ball for having "that dress". Not sure if they have this dress shop where you are, but one I found that is very decent priced and has many varieties of gown is called Camille La Vei (not sure of spelling exactly). They have great selection of style and color in the store in our mall here in Wilmington, NC. Just a few suggestions ladies...I hope this helps! Have a great ball:)

Im desperate to know this too! I am hardly 5' tall, so a shorter dress is soo much easier for me to find without tons of money in alterations.. Plus its high school homecoming time, so short dresses are MUCH easier to find! I just dont want to be the only one in a short dress.
Ive heard it varies by location.. If thats the case anyone been to the one in Pensacola, FL?
