Hello MA moms! My son will be 4 in February and I'm anxious to get him into martial arts. What style of martial arts are you/your children in? The school closest to us offers jujitsu, although there are other schools in the area that offer tae kwon do and karate. How did you choose?

Our 3 1/2 yr old watches his older brother, even presents his kata it is cute. There is alway ATA, if that is what you are looking for.

We signed up our little one at a place called Little Gym, there is no specific style, but I like the program.

Then when he is six he can join his brothers dojo.

at that age, its more about what the program offers, not about the style. You'll want to visit the school, take a few intro lessons, learn about the benefits of the program and ask lots of questions. Schools have their own ways of teaching, but at that age its about learning to take direction from someone other a parent, listening, and focus, waiting your turn, and above all respect and of course motor skill development.
