I have a boy and he's interetsted, will sit on the potty, etc... wondering if anyone else has had success with this age yet.

oh yes. Very much so about trained. Thankfully my Oldest son that is 15 months older than my 2 year old. He is very eager to do what brother is doing. Good Luck. And try not to push it on him. It will make him not want to go.

My son started showing an interest in potty training at 2 then his interest tappered off. Now at 2.5 he is pooping in the potty on his own but still has problems with the peeing part, its hit and miss, literally. Most of the time he just takes his pants off and walks around naked seems to help him abit to remember.

My daughter is interested but I can't get her to potty on the chair. As soon as I put her diaper back on she goes. And she won't tell me when she has to go potty either. She'll go right in her big girl panties. But I talked to a dr. and they said that if 90% of what your child says is no then it's not time to potty train and that's mostly what my daughter says lol

My girl is too into games to stop playing and go potty!! After a weekend of cleaning after her and doing LOTS of laundry...we are back on pull ups....we put her on the toilet when she asks and every time her sister has to go....other than that... i am sure she will learn with time!

No success, he will sit on the potty but will not do anything. He is now hiding when he poops, so I think we are getting close. I'm not rushing it. When he's ready that's when it will happen. I heard boys are harder.

My son wants to potty train but he doesnt want mommy around when he goes. He does well during the day but at night its another story. I think they potty train when they are ready and there is nothing we can do to change it just watch for the signs and see what happends.

My Sofia won't sit on the potty she was 2 in May. She wil sit on the toliet, but won't do anything. She refuses to go wiithout a nappy. She knows when she has done a poo or a wee, but is just to stubborn.
My health vistor said its normally the little girls who pick things up quickly trying to hold on to the last bit of being a baby and we shouldn't worry.

aww yes potty training. My son is 2 1/2 and has it pretty much figured out. he still goes in his pullups on occasion but he knows if he goes on the potty he gets a treat. Also he seems to like to take them off and pee on my floor right out side our bathroom. Alot of people are telling me not to use pullups cause they're too much like a diaper but the way I see it I clean enough pee of my floor Im not trying to clean up poo too lol

My daughter turned 2 in May of 2009. We started with potty training in mid July. She has been doing Great! Has a few accidents if she is to busy into the cartoons but overall does really good! The way I got her to go: Since she likes stickers so much I made her a chart for each time she sucessfully went to potty she got a sticker on the chart and one for herself. That did really good for her.

my son was trained at 20 months and then just after he turned two it became winter and he told me he wants to wear a diaper again because its to cold for undies. Wel luckily when summer came i started immediately and just 2 weeks he was back in the game again. He just still sleeps wiht a diaper that I put on for him just after ten when his fst asleep, sometimes its still dry and other times wow i don't know where it all comes from but were winning. During the day he's fully trained

That is the method I used. It is amazing how fast they realize they don't like it, and will use that potty. I had to leave him naked when we were at home for about 3 weeks.
Quoting Carin:
I started my boy potty training last weekend... I left him without a diaper or pullup on for the whole weekend during the day and he peed and pooped in the toilet! I hear they don't like the feel of it when they are naked, so I tried and it worked!!

My son is done, except I put a diaper (they're cheaper) on him for naps and night time. We started about two months ago, and he rarely has an accident.
Give it try.

My 3rd son Lucas (my third potty training session in four years), has been peeing and pooing on the potty for months now, even on the toilet, but he's not quite ready to go into public without a diaper...he's almost there..sometimes it's my inability to take the time to train him that gets in the way..not him...he'll be diaper free soon!!

I also have a boy, he will sit on the potty and we've had some success, I am not 100% pushing him yet. He doesn't quite get the whole reward thing. I will say that on a scale of percentage wise he is atleast maybe 50-60% trained. He is definately more dry during the day now to, which is a sign of being ready. Good Luck
By the way, he is almost 2 1/2 yrs old and his brother was trained by 18mo!!! So if your child has a sibling, try not to compare and beat yourself up about it.

Dylan is doing good with his. He will sit and peepee but he doesn't have the patience to do the other. He has done it twice so far and we realized that if we give him a magazine or book he will do his job.

well my daughter is 4 and i didnt get her potty trained til 2 months before her 3rd b-day she would sit on the potty and wipe and flush but she wouldnt go. finally i put her on the toilet i knew she had to go and i made her sit there. i sat my chair at the door and she screamed and moved around and i still didnt let her get up finally she couldnt hold it any longer and she started peeing she immediatelly stopped crying and said oh mom im peeing she was so proud. she got little mini chocolate bars whe she would go on the potty after that but only if she asked. we never had a problem after that. now my son that is 2 1/2 totally different. he'll go on the potty but he just doesnt care, he wont tell me when he has to go, i just put him on there whenever if he goes he goes. i just dont have the time to take him every hour plus i think they need to have an understanding of what they are doing. my son just doesnt understand. my daughter was alot easier.

Christian started being interested but then after a few days he quit. Now he just looks at the potty chair like its a toy. I try i mean i even tried buying one of those seat covers for the toilet potty chair things with a stool and he did that for a few days and then quit too. I have to make him sit on the potty chairs now and he just crys. My biggest problem is he will not tell me when he's dirty or wet he'd rather sit in it. Even when i can smell he's dirty he'll claim he's not. It dont bother him. Tell me how i can potty train a boy who it doesn't seem to phase dirty or not? So i guess i'm not much of one to help you out though sorry!

my sophie is fully potty trained, she enjoys sitting on her potty but she likes to be there by herself when she's on "number 2",it took 'bout a week.we started when we where both ready as i needed to be there for her always, once you start, you shouldn't go back to wearing daipers as they'll soon get used to wearing pants.

Some kids pick it up faster than others. My daughter wants to potty train and has been peeing on the toilet since she's 18 months, but I spoke with her teacher and agree that I should wait until she's closer to 3. She gets so busy doing her projects and coloring and playing with her dolls, that it would be very annoying for her to have to stop what she's doing to go to the toilet. I want her to be "free" as long as she can.

My daughter is mostly potty trained and has been since spring. From about 18 months she'd want to sit on the potty. She is potty trained in underpants, however when I do put her in a diaper (to travel, or going for walk or sometimes at someone elses house) she will go in the diaper. She doesn't like putting the diapers on and fights me about it sometimes. But we are quite far from the nearest town and I really don't want a mess in the carseat. She never goes in the underpants- she knows the difference! Once he gets used to the idea of the potty you just need to get him used to the concept of underpants. Be prepared for some messes, but after a few days he will get the idea. You just need to be consistant with the underpants for a few solid days. I would do it all but nap time and bedtime in the beginning. My daughter loved going on the potty so it was pretty easy for me.

My son is 2 and I potty trained him at 22 months. He still has accidents at night and sometimes during naps. I don't know if he was interested or not when I did it. I just took his diaper off and worked with it. It took about a week.

yes my son is 2 yrs old and i have him sit on potty alot and also i have him wear underwear instead of a diaper so he feels like a big boy and he wants to pee in potty. does it always work ... most of the time plus it saves on diaper cost. All kids are different .. my daughter was completley potty trained by this age

my daughter isnt overly interested either, she knows when shes done poos, and she knows what happens in the toilet etc, but wont have a bar of it herself. im waiting for summer time when she can be naked and then ill try and teach her then. no point pushing it if they refuse. only causes stress for both you and your child i reckon!

I have a 2 year old boy and he will not hear of it. I have tried and tried to get him to sit on the potty and the toilet. We tried throwing fruit loops and cheerios in the toliet for him to aim at and also tried the reward system with a sticker for everytime he sits on it even if he does nothing while sitting there. I have always heard boys take longer, but I am starting to worry because he is just not interested.

I am trying to potty train my daughter. She loves to sit on her potty and is not afraid when I flush the toilet. She shows all the signs that she is ready. I put her on every two hours up to 30 minutes at times and she won't go. I have even tried the water faucet trick. The funny thing is, is as soon as the diaper is back on she goes.
