Finger sucking!

My daughter used to suck her two middle fingers on her left had too but burnt them on our wood stove. I thought this was going to break her but it did not. She now sucks her thumb on that hand. I have just decided that she is determined to suck a finger no matter what and will stop when she is ready.

My daughter is turning 3 on May 21 and she has been sucking her left thumb even before she turned 1 year old. And I don't know what to do to make her stop sucking her thumb. Any suggestions?

My Little Girl sucks her left thumb. The only good side about it, is that she only sucks it with a silk tag in her hand. If she doesn't have the "taggie" she wont do it. The bad side.... She cries for the taggie when she is sleepy.

My daughter also turns 3 on May 25 & she sucks her forefinger & her middle finger on her right hand. I would love to know how to break her of that too.

Unfortunately, yes. They come as a pair and you use both at once. They were $80 with shipping, but as it's a medical device it can be claimed on taxes. You can also check with a dentist to see if he'll prescribe it and there's a chance some insurance companies will cover the cost, but it's hard because a lot don't.

Google Thumbguards. We're using them right now and they work well if you use them consistently. There's a set for each thumb, and there's another set for finger sucking.

That's funny! your daughter likes hot sauce and nail polish! I don't agree with the doctor that she will outgrow it!

My son turns 3 on May 2nd and does the same thing! He only sucks his two middle fingers when he's sleepy or over stimulated! Good news according to the dentist is its not as bad as sucking his thumb since the fingers don't affect his bite or his teeth going crooked! When you find out what works let me know............

that is funny my daughter alson turns 3 on may 25 and has been sucking her right thumb since she was in the belly and everyone says she will stop but i don;t see that happening anytime soon. the doctor says to leave her be she will stop on her own but like you i have been praying and hoping she will stop before her 3rd birthday. nail polish and hot sauce did not work she like the taste of both; any other remedies????
