Holiday Traditions

With my older daughter I have collected snowglobes every year since she has been born. I also always get one ordiment each year which represents something that happened that year- eg. birth, learned to skate, little house, As you look at them each year while decorating you'll remember all your fondest memories. Making cookies with toddlers is a great start at baking during the holidays. Anything that you do as a family each year is a great tradition.

Not very exciting, but my kids get new Christmas PJ's that they get to open every Christmas Eve. This year I've had my Mom make matching PJ's for the whole family. My older two are 7 and 5 and they get excited every Christmas Eve LOL

We plan on "watching" How a Grinch Stole Christmas the day we pick out and decorate our tree. Then we eat "dinner" (combination of appetizers) under our new tree. Christmas Eve we read the Christmas Story from the Bible and Twas The Night Before Christmas. We are also starting to incorporate St Nicks Day this year by leaving an ornament in his shoe!!!

This is my first year in our own house since Aliza was born (we were renovating our house last year & had to stay with family), but this year in addition to the artificial tree in the living room decorated with our regular ornaments, we plan to get a live tree for our sunroom & decorate it with exclusively homeade ornaments (except for lights) that we make together (string popcorn, salt dough ornaments, ect.) We also always decorate the day after Thanksgiving as a family & last year we started a new tradition - stocking gifts. We determine how many days we want to do stocking gifts (Dec 1 - Christmas or 12 days, etc) & buy cheap little baubles to put in a stocking & for every day that the girls behave well they get to reach in & receive a gift for the day - if they didn't behave, no gift that night. We try to do it at the same time each evening. We also have a baking day that we make cookies that we will be giving away. Hope this helps!

hi my name is britany and i am a mommy of 4 boys ages 7 4 3 and 18 months and our tradition is we spend Christmas eve with our extended family and Christmas day with just us we try to make it an all day long celebration. We open 1 gift every hour so that the boys can appreciate what they get instead of rushing through it and every thing being in a pile in 10 mins. It really means alot to us to see them enjoy what they get.Hope this helps
