My son was diagnosed as failure to thrive last year and I just recently created a new community for failure to thrive babies and toddlers. so if you know anyone let them know. It will be a great way for us struggling moms to talk about our problems and possibly help eachother find answers.
Looking forward to hearing from mommies (and daddies)!

My son wasn't FTT but my middle child was. She was a slight preemie but the she got so bad that the state came in and took her and her brother from us saying that I was neglecting them because she would not gain wieght. My son now four is the one not eating much but that is due to his meds. He is slowly loosing weight so I am scared now. I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your son.

My daughter is probably on her way to get this diagnosis. She's 15 months and is the same height and almost the same weight as she was at 9 months. We are now starting all the tests, which are coming back normal. I think she's just a little girl. Her brother stopped gaining weight at around the same age, but still gained in inches. He's now 4 and only 30 pounds. I'm only 5 ft 2 in and my husband is 5 ft 7 in. Where would I expect her to get any tall genes from? I'll keep my fingers crossed that the doctors don't want any really invasive tests.

I know some with this issue. Have any of the babies had their growth hormones checked? And for the one who's baby used to eat, why not go back to that diet. If kids are happy, healthy and active why are they worried?

My daughter is 4 yrs old, 26 lbs and 37 inces tall. My dr refuses to say she has FTT, which I am more then happy to go with. Her sister who is 22 months younger is 2 lbs lighter, and 2 inches shorter. Kids grow differently. FTT sometimes is thrown out there to easily. I had a lady argue with me one day that I feed the 2 yr old but not the 4 yr old...

My son was just diagnosed in January at 5 months old. He is now 8 months old and still not gaining well. All his test have come back normal. His GI doctor is trying to put off endoscopy due to having to be put to sleep. she also said if we go back in 3 weeks and his weight gain isn't where she wants it he will have to get a NG tube. Just wish I had some answers to why the FTT.

My daughter, Ally, was diagnosed at 12 months with "failure to thrive". It drives me nuts to hear those words. Before they diagnosed her she wa eating everything in sight, a very happy baby, just very active and didn't gain any weight. Since they chnaged her diet she has become so cranky and hasn't been wanting to eat.
