I have a almost 4 year old and an almost 2 year old and both have their seperate rooms, however, my 2 year old still has her nigths where she wakes up in the middle of the night screeching to the top of her lungs desturbing the whole household. my 4 year old did this and also suffers from grand mal seisures and also suffered from night terrors as well, however she has since outgrown the night terrors, and although my 2 year old does not have seisures i am fearing it still might be night terrors. could this be possible?

Does this happen at set timing every night? Like go to sleep and an hour later starts screaming kind of thing or is it more sporadic. Night terrors tend to follow a pattern. There are set sleep patterns your LO's body will floow and Night terrors begin during the REM cycle. Have you tried dirupting your daughters sleep patterns? this cans ometimes work, it resets the sleep cycle. You don't have to wake her up, just go in(keeps the lights off) and touch her or speak softly until she aknowledges you are there in some way, she may open her eyes for a second, change positions, lift her head for a moment. once she does something like that stop, don't move don't say anything until she settles back to sleep and then leave. You have been through night terrors before so I am sure you know the difference between waking up and crying and appearing to be awake and crying (often with no tears) and not consolable.

My son had night terrors for 6 months when he was 2 and doesn't have seizures. He would wake up crying and was inconsolable. We were told not to talk to him during them. Just rub his head or hand or rock him gently until he settled down. We would often just leave him to cry it out. They sometimes would last up to 45 mins!!
