Hi, My son has decided he should crawl out of his crib with the gate up and help himself to getting out of bed.. I would like to know how to keep him in bed and not walking around when it's time for nap and bed time.. I was thinking I should convert the crib into a bed now so he doesn't hurt himself... I don't want to sleep with him because I don't want him to think that I need to sleep with him in order to take a nap or bed time sleep... What should I do?

My son is napping in his toddler bed for the first time right now! :))

He got up a few times, just to test it out, but we put him right back in and told him he is to stay in bed or I would shut his door. He's sleeping soundly with the door open.

Quoting Rebecca:

I put my son in a twin bed when he learned how to crawl out of his crib. He has tried to test getting out of bed a couple of times, but each day that he tried, I would just put him right back in. There were a couple of times that he would try over and over and I just stayed consistant and would not let him up. He learned that even though he had more freedom, he still had to stay in bed.

Thanks Rebecca, I need to stay on him and keep putting him back.. We are going to put up a toddler bed here soon.. Thanks for sharing it helps alot..

My little girl sleeps in a toddler bed and she does just fine. I like it so much better because if she does need to get out i'm not worried about her hurting herself.
