My son doesn't like wearing training pants

I was wondering if anyone else's little one(s) ever acted that way? I've tried on several different occassions since november to get my 22 month old to try pull up or training underwear, but he screams bloody murder and won't stop until he gets it off or gets it taken off. I don't know why he won't put them on. he seems ready to start potty training, because he always follows his big bro to the bathroom and watches with interest, and likes to sit on the potty for a min or two at a time. Does anyone have any ideas for getting around this? I'm kind of at wit's end with him. thanks for your thoughts.

Don't bother with training pants, just go straight to big boy underwear with his favourite characters on them. You will have to clean up some messes but it works way better. Pull ups for the most part are counter productive as most kids see them as diapers. I would use them only at night and for nap time. and work on no pull ups at nap time. DD is fully day trained now, although going through a bit of a regression over the last week.

I hope so. he's already getting really stubborn about things, and he still has a month before he turns 2. I'm just waiting for the weather to get nice. maybe by then he'll be ready

Great idea since summer is coming, just put him shorts. by the end of summer when he is fully potty trained maybe he'll be more ready to accept the underpants!

well, the problem is he reacts the same way towards underwear. he screams and cries and tugs at them until we finally just take them back off of him. he just seems to want to wear his diaper or nothing at all. I'm going to try to just put him in shorts this summer and see if that helps some. he seems ready, he just don't want to wear unders or pull ups.

hi Kari, yeah i tried Training pants with my daughter but it was a disasater.. At the end i just trained her without, basically when she went to preschool i used to make her wear pampers, at home i used to not put on pampers just underwear.. I used to just take her every so often to the potty and it worked.. with my son i plan to do the same thing. Do not use training pants , just keep taking him to the bathroom..
