Hi All
My little man had his tonsills removed on 3 May. Turned 3 on 11 May. He has always been a very good, well-behaved child. He has been sleeping through since 4 months and was potty trained at 22 months.
After this procedure he has turned into a monster though! He is very angry at his dad and me!! If he does not want to do something, he simply refuses! No naughty chair, no packing away favourite toys, no time-out, even spanking does not work! He is so 'stubborn' about not wanting to do something, he just refuses! Screams back at us if we repremand him. It is just a nightmare!
He's sleep seems to be affected also. He is awake regularly during the night, and wants to either sleep in our bed, or one of us has to lay with him until he falls asleep. Last night, we ignored his tantrum and shouting - and hour and a half later (!!!) he spoke to Jesus and told Him that his Mommy is being very naughty and ugly to him. It broke my heart - but I just don't know what to do anymore!
He wakes up in the morning and starts to moan and cry. And I have a hard time getting him to stop crying. It really is driving me insane as I do not know if he was traumatised by the experience, has sufferred some weird postoperative side-effect, or just being naughty!
Has anyone else had these kinds of side-effects following a surgical procedure on a toddler?
