I was just wondering how many naps does your 14 month old take? and how long are the naps? Mine was taking 2 naps a day, for about 1-1 1/2 hr each time but now he is having 1 nap (right after luch) for about 1 - 1 1/2 hrs.

My daughters are 15 almost 16 months and they only take one nap it ranges from an hour to three hours. usually i wake them up if they have been asleep any longer. I try to put them down at one so they wake up at three but lately its been 3-6

My son takes a 2 hour nap around 11-1. I try to make sure he is up by 3. Any later and he doesn't really want to sleep at bedtime.

When my daughter turned a year, she was still doing 2 naps a day, 1.5 hours each. Now at 15 months, she only takes 1 nap a day, 2-2.5 hours long. It seemed like a quick transition for me, but she's adjusting very well. She wakes up around 10 every morning & takes her nap around 2-3 & goes to bed around 10 and sleeps through the night. I think one nap is pretty normal around this age.

From everything I have read, babies transition to one nap anywhere between 12-18 months with the norm being 15-18 months. We are still a two nap family all the way. I look forward to the days of one nap!

My little girl only takes one nap a day for about 45 min. to 1 hour. Every baby is different, they will let you know what they want and how much sleep they need. He will ajust just fine.

My little one is 14mts. She normally takes a 10a.m. and 3p.m. nap. Lately, however, she seems to be transition to one nap a day. It started with her refusing to take the morning nap. Instead she would roll around, play and otherwise not sleep. And it's been this way for the past week. So, I just stopped trying to give her the a.m. nap. Because she can't make until 3p.m. without a nap I have implemented an after lunch nap. I do it here because her belly is nice and full and it seems like a perfect time. And more often than not, she sleeps soundly for 1-1.5 hours. There is no afternoon nap. Though I admit it can be a struggle to get her to stay up until 7pm. We are working out this little 'glitch'. :) Good luck. I miss the 'two naps a day' days.

My daughter is doing exactly what your child is doing. She now only has one nap a day, right after lunch for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

My baby is doing the same thing except she naps for about 2 hours right after lunch from about 1-3. It was a gradual change. She started refusing to take her morning nap so I just let her give me "sleepy cues"....yawning, rubbing eyes, etc. When she started doing those, I knew it was time to lay her down. She is pretty good at going to sleep on her own when she is tired...except for when she is teething or sick. Then she wants me to rock her to sleep.

My 14 month old daughter is in the transition stage from 2 down to 1 nap a day I think! She was having two, two hour naps, one at 9am, then another around 1pm-2pm. Now she doesn't want a nap at 9am, but wants to go down at 11am - she'll then sleep til about 12.30pm, then go down for a nap at 3pm - I won't let her go down any later otherwise she probably won't sleep at night! I'm trying to cut out her morning nap and see if she'll just have one at around 1pm.. no luck yet, but that's our goal!

My daughter takes 2 naps one usually 2 hours after she wakes up in the morning so if she wakes up at 8 she will go down at 10 and if she wakes up at nine she will go down at 11 she normally sleeps 30 minutes to an hour and then at about 2 or 3 she will go down again for another hour or so then normally always goes to bed at 8pm. i cant skip naps cause then i have a VERY cranky kid on my hands!

My daughter has been on one nap/day for about 1 month. She started protesting naps and bedtime a lot and the morning nap started getting later. So we just gave it a shot and got amazing results! She used to take 2 1.5 hour naps, sleeping by 8-8:30 and up at 6-6:30. Now she goes down for 1.5-2 hours at around 1pm, in bed by 7:30 and up around 8:30-9am, with little protest.

yep, we're still on two (morn and afternoon), although sometimes he seems like he doesn't need one in the morn anymore, he is an absolute crab when he doesn't. So we're stickin to two.

When I have my daughter for the day (I work) she naps once for about 1 1/2 hours. She started just playing in her crib for an hour for the second nap so I had her nap later once and it works great. When my MIL has her weekdays my daughter takes an early morning nap cause my MIL puts her down then and has a hard time changing the routine. After I pick my daughter up I try another nap at 3, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't I just have to deal with a crankie frankie and put her to bed a lil early. I think you just pay attention to your baby and do what they need. Its getting harder and harder for my MIL to get my daughter to nap early, and one day she won't. It will all fix itself.

My lil girl was doing the same, holding out til after lunch.... but now she's had 2 teeth pop & she's back having a sleep at about 10:30am & about 3:30pm for around an hour at a time.
It's definitely not a fun time when they move their naps around! Especially when you rely on those times to get your things done! Oh well, I'm glad I've been through this already with my son & know about the tired tantrums we all have to look forward too ;-)

well my son was taking 2 naps one was 2 hours and the other was one hour. this week he just decided to switch himself from two to one. he takes his one at 11-11:30 and its about two hours long. i love how my son just seems to adjust himself when needed... it does make me feel a little lazy though like i should be doing it!

Hi Alicia,

The transition to one nap was was gradual. I noticed his morning naps were getting later (so instead of napping at 9am or 10am he would go down at 11am), so than one day I decided to try to keep him up a bit longer .... until noon. He would have his lunch than I would put him down after lunch. He is getting used to the change.

i'm daughter is 14 months and she has an hour nap at ten and a 2 hour nap at 3. She can not miss a nap or go for her nap late because any change in her routine and i get an over tired baby. Sometimes i wish that i can skip a nap but it is impossible because i am the one who pays in the end. But i am also grateful she ha those naps cause it gives me a chance to clean or shower or tae one myself!! lol

Hi, my 13 month old son went from two naps a day of 20-40 mins to one nap a day just after lunch for about an hour. He let me know he only wanted the one sleep a day when he refused the second sleep.

We are still doing 2 naps, both about 2 hours each. I am curious as to how he'll make the transition to one nap. I feel like it is a long way off for my son, but then I wonder...Was it a sudden thing for your baby? What signs did you see that helped you see it was time to go to one?
