My daughter Kennady is 11 months old. We have been starting her on "big people food" I was curious as to what types of "big people food" that you give your kids at this age & when do we eliminate baby food?

Goldfish Crackers - little orange crackers in the shape of fish that ahve a cheesy taste. My 11 month old son loves them (as does my 2 year old daughter). Most grocery stores sell them.

My son eats everything that we eat. He only eats baby food when he feels to lazy to feed himself (not very often).

Quoting Molly:

My daughter has been off of baby food completely since she was 8 months old. One day she just refused it and wanted to feed herself. Pasta is a great first big people food. She loves it. Also steamed veggies, goldfish and lots of fruit are great for first foods!

goldfish? your not talking about the actual FISH are you?

My son is 11 months as well and i pretty much give him everything that i eat. I spoke to my doctor about this and he flat out stated to me is do you have the money to buy the expensive baby food.... Hayden does wonderful on it. His bowls are more solid than what the were with baby food and he is not always hungry. Hayden eats: meat loaf, pork chops, chicken, i have given him very small peices of steak. Waffles every morning for breakfast (great for teething frozen waffles) mashed potatoes, hole green beans, and fruit cups. i have also started him on 2 % milk and he has been wonderful on it. so all you can do is try and see how she takes it. the only thing i buy is the baby snacks because of my fobia of him choking on a cheese it. good luck

My little boy just turned 11months and has started eating pretty much anything we eat. He loves whole grain waffles, carrots, peaches, strawberries, peas, chicken and fish. I still keep the baby food handy for when we are on the go. He is pretty much off of it now though.

We do a mixture of baby food and grown up food but are going to try to start weening off of baby food soon. Our son doesn't do many fruits, loves chicken and browned hamburger. He also really likes sweet potatoes. I just peal them and cut them up like french fries, wrap them in a wet paper towel and put them in the microwave for 90 seconds- he will eat an entire SP like that-it also works with baby carrots but I cut them in half the long way to avoid choking. We also just learned he likes grilled cheese sandwiches and pizza!!

My daughter will be 11 months at the end of this month, and she has already pretty much cut out baby food. The only time she eats it is weekday mornings at the sitter she has a fruit & oatmeal. When it comes to dinner, she pretty much eats what we have. I haven't found anything she doesn't like yet...

My daughter is also 11 months old. She still eats her baby food, but anytime I am eating she is mooching off my plate. I always pick out the veggies and give them to her. She loves steamed broccoli, carrots, squash, green bell peppers, onions, you name it. I have tried tiny pieces of chicken, but she isn't a big fan because she doesn't care for the texture just yet. I also give her breads, rice and some noodles. I'll make pancakes for her some mornings as well (no butter and no syrup) She isn't big on sweets either except her puffs. SHe loves bananas. I mash them or cut them into tiny pieces for her.

When she starts turning her nose up to the baby food is when I plan on eliminating it.

My daughter will soon be 11 months and she eats just about everything that we eat. She doesn't like the baby food since she started eating what we eat. I bought her a dinner called Graduates for Toddlers lil entrees for her when we are having something she can't have like spicy foods.

My son likes dry waffels, bagels, noodels of any kind, veggie chix nuggets, carrots, de-stringed celery, chunk chicken breast, Nilla waffers, steamed zuchinni, finger jello... As to when to stop baby food all together...that really depends on your kid. If they are eating enough table foods to fill themselves, then I would cut out the baby food. Make sure that each new food that you introduce to give it at least a day before you introduce another new food. We found out my son has a high "sensitivity" to strawberries.
