Hi Moms!

I have a little boy who will be 6 months old next week. He tends to get an awful red rash with terrible dry skin on his cheeks & chin (tends to be worse at night). I'm thinking it's probably from teething and the cold winter weather we now have...can anyone suggest something I can put on his face that will give him some relief without burning? I've tried different body washes & several baby lotions but when I put them on he cries and it gets worse so I think it burns more than anything. Thanks for any suggestions!

If you are looking for a natural remedy, my son had the SAME problem and the doctor just told us to keep using cortisone cream. I did a little online research and talked to some other moms and found that using coconut oil 100% solved the problem. Almost over night. It's cheap enough (we buy the organic stuff from vitamin shoppe). After bath time just rubbed a little on the area and then off to bed he went, voila! in the morning after day two he was cured. Best of luck!

Aquafor, Cetaphil, Aveeno and Oatmeal baths re some of the things my ped recommended. And said with the ointments to put them on 4 times a day til they are shiny and do it at nap time so it doesnt get rubbed off, and only give two baths a week but sponge in between

My little one has the same problem! I was told to buy Aquaphor (spelling?). You can get it at any drug store. It is like Vaseline, but not quite as dark in color. You just put it all over the red parts. I put it on him every time I change his diaper, and especially before bed. It usually only takes a day to clear up. Hope this helps:)

My daughter had a rash on both cheeks for over a month and her pediatrian diagnosted eczema.

You can try the following cream to help with the dryness: Glaxial Base or Prevex. You can find those creams in any pharmacy.

My son just turned 6 months and he's been having the same problem. I believe it is due to the cold weather, teething (extra slobber) and runny nose. I've been using a cream called Aquaphor (brand). It is for dry and chapped skin. I've used it the past 2 days and the redness and irritation as gotten much better. I hope this helps.

My little guy has the same thing and I've been using a lotion called Method baby, (squeaky green lotion) It was the first thing that didn't make him cry. It's rice milk & mallow and very nice smelling. Good luck!
