My 21 month old just started daycare and has already had 2 ear infections. This is the third time she has been on antibiotics and i was just wondering if anyone is going through the same thing right now and if there are any suggestions on how to prevent or treat them without antibiotics??
Thanks!

hi, u have twolittle ones who have had chronic ear infections, and both have had grommits. I think the idea of going to see a specialist like a chiropractor is good, but it depends on what is the cause. In my girls case they needed not oral antibiotics(they dont really help them) but specialised ear drops, with antibiotics in them. If you arent happy with giving ABs try other alternatives, as suggested by others, but they do help in some cases. Also to help prevent ear infections, stop water getting itno the ear with ear plugs, use warm flannels, heat pack on cold nights against the ear. If they get really blocked noses it can lead to ear pain as well, so use Fess or nasal spray to help clear their passages. I hope i have helped a little bit. Good luck. It can be really hard.

The thing with Chiropractors is I guess they move a bone back into place and it allows the liquid to drain and clear it up. It's actually pretty interesting!

I was told that 90% of ear infections clear up on their own. I give them Motrin and wait 3 days. Since I have started that method, I have not been to a doctor.

I also warm a hand towel in the microwave and put it on her ear.

I had never heard of the chiropractor for the ears. I must get my little ones to the chiro!

I would not reccomend giving antibiotics for ear infections, they don't help that much. Bring her to a chiropractor when she has even a slight sign of an ear infection. My son has had a couple and the day after we go to the chiropractor he's feeling like himself again. His dr actually agreed that Chiropractics is best for ear infections, and my father in law (Who doesn't like chiropractics and is a pharmisist) said that antibiotics aren't very helpful for ear infections, didn't understand why dr's gave it, and actually said that chiropractics is the way to go.

It's very safe, my sister in law is a chiropractor and adjusts my son all the time, he just loves it! (He even likes to help when she's adjusting others).
