Does anyone know how many naps (and duration of each) 11 month olds need?

My son wakes between 7am and 8am then he is wanting sleep again between 8.30 and 9.30 ( depending on what time he wakes, but normally about 1 1/2 hours after he wakes) sleeps for 2 hours, asleep again between 1 and 2 pm wakes between 4 and 5 pm then dinner, bath and bed at 6pm. I feel he is almost sleeping too much and should be awake longer but if I dont put him to bed he climbs on me and goes to sleep.
Is he sleeping to much? He is my 3rd child so I should know this stuff but as we all know all kids are different, my 4 yr old only had one 3 hour sleep in the middle of the day at the same age. Any thoughts ?

7 pm bedtime sounds wonderful!! Although that's wishful thinking...my baby wakes up about 8:30am...naps at 10:30 for up to 2 hours, then another nap around 3:30 for up to 2 hours..and bedtime is usually between 8 and 9 pm!!!
If you want a 7pm bedtime don't give the later 2 hour nap. There's no way your baby will want to sleep 2 hours after they just woke up!

My daughter wakes arund 7, and then she wants to sleep again for an hour at 9-30, and then after lunch she sleeps for an hour again. Sometimes she even sleeps one more time after that, around 3 pm. I know it´s kinda much, but she wants to, and I let her, she gets so cranky otherwise.. =oS

Well Joanna wakes up everyday between 8-8:30am, and she goes down for a nap after lunch. She sleeps for 1hr half to 2 hrs, and bedtime is 6.
Wow 6pm bedtime seems really early. Most babies go to bed between 7-9pm. If your daughter sleeps through until 8am without waking in the night......wow I envy you!
My son wakes up in the morning between 5-6:30, has a nap around 10am (1-2 hrs), lunch at 12pm, nap 3:30pm (sometimes doesn't take this nap), and bed around 8pm. He usually wakes around midnight for a feeding. My son is a breastfed baby.
I think the stage of development is important too. My son doesn't crawl or walk on his own. I think he'll be walking on his own very soon though.

I have the same schedule as a few others... My daughter wakes up about 7am and is back in bed at about 9.30am. Sleeps for 1 1/2 hours - 2 hours, has another nap at about 2.30pm and the length of this will depend on the morning sleep, usually at least an hour. Her bedtime is 7pm. I have noticed our naps are getting a bit shorter too.

my daughter usually gets up around 6:30am, but i go in and nurse, and she will either go back to sleep or just rest quietly for another hour. (that is my quiet coffee time) then she'll go for a two hour nap at 10am, and usually another nap around 2-3 for another hour-two hour nap. if we have a busy morning, she will just take one big nap in the afternoon, like 12-3. every baby is different. my daughter also goes to bed at 7pm every night like clockwork and i am so thankful she sleeps through the night, no problems.

During the week, I get my son up at 7. Goes down for naptime at school at 12 - 2:30. He's usually good until bedtime which is 7:30. On the weekends he wakes up on his own around 7:30/7:45. Naptime is usually around 11:30/12. At home he can sleep anywhere from 3 - 4 hrs, so he usually doesn't need another nap until bedtime which is still 7:30/8 on the weekends. But if he gets a 2 hr nap, I usually give him an hour nap around 5.

My little boy goes to bed at 7pm, wakes up at 7 am, has a nap from 9.30 until 11/11.30 and then has another sleep for 2.30pm -4.30.. he sleeps quite alot! but he is very active all the time so i really think it doesn't mater, if they are tired, let them sleep!

My little man goes to bed at 7.30pm, wakes at 6.00am. Has a nap from 8.30am till about 9.40am (approx 1 hour). He usually stays awake from then until 2.00pm when he goes down for another nap till about 4.00-4.30pm (approx 2-3hours).
I think it's usually up to the individual...some days he naps for longer than others and all babies are different...so try not to worry if yours is sleeping more or less as long as they're happy.

My son is 11 months old, and he just transitioned from 2 naps a day (10:00am & 2:00pm) to 1 nap at 11:30pm. He goes to bed around 7:30pm and wakes up around 8:00am. His naps usually last a couple hours. Although all kids are different, all 3 of my children made the transition from 2 naps to 1 nap a day around 11 months old.

Matthew wakes up around 7am. Down for am nap between 9:30-10 and sleeps 1.5-2 hrs. Afternoon nap depends on how long am nap was. We have to do school drop off & pick up for my other son at 1pm and 3:30pm, so his afternoon nap times are limited. On the weekend when we don't have that issue, he'll go down for another 1-1.5 hrs in the afternoon sometime between 2-3pm. Bedtime is 7pm.

I was thinking the same thing. My son for the longest time used to nap twice a day. Once at 10 am for 1hr and again at 2pm for 1 hr. he went to bed at 7 pm and woke up at 7 am. Now that he is almost 11 months old his sleeping patterns changed. He naps once a day usually in the late afternoon for about an hour and goes to bed at 8pm & wakes up at 6 am. I noticed he gets cranky put he will not nap in the morning. I hope its only a phase.

I think every kid has different needs, but my son wakes up at about 8 am, takes a short (30-45 min.) nap in the morning around 10 or 10:30, then lunch at noon, and usually a longer nap, like an hour to an hour and a half at 2 or 3, then bedtime at about 8 pm. However, we're starting to think about taking him down to one nap in the afternoon because it's getting harder and harder to get him down for the morning nap. Hope this helps!

My lo wakes about 7:30, has 2 2-hour naps, and sleeps at 7:30. She sometimes skips the afternoon nap and both naps seems to be getting shorter here lately.

Hello, It really depends on each child, but on the adverage they take 1 to 2 naps each day lasting anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2. One in the morning and another in the afternoon. Its also important not to have them nap late into the afternoon because that could cause her not to sleep at night. I hope this helps. Have a great one!

I think every child is different but my little girl wakes between 7-8am and then has a nap for about 45mins after her dinnertime bottle which is around 12ish then sometimes she'll nap for 20mins around 4ish but most days she'll go right through till bedtime at 8ish, it really depends on what we're doing she never likes to miss out on a thing!!

my daughter wakes anywhere between 5-6:15 each day. She usually naps around 9 or 10 for about an hour, then again around 1 for another hour. She goes to bed between 6:30-7 pm Every day is different, however, and we've had days with no naps, and some with longer naps, or only 1 nap. Depends if we are home, or out doing things. She definitely seems to want her am nap and doesn't seem to be shifting toward only 1 nap in the afternoon, which I thought older babies did??

I often wonder the same! My son will sometimes refuse to sleep at all and that makes for tired cranky baby come bedtime. I keep his room dark and cool as he seems to sleep better but he will miss it if he thinks there is something going on, just nosy I guess! I usually try to put him down about an hr after his lunch, but don't push it if he won't sleep. If he does sleep he will sleep for 1-2 hrs, but he does sleep very well at night...8pm til 9am so I am not too fussed if he does miss his nap iykwim.

Hi there! My little girl usually wakes around 8 am. She has a 2 hour afternoon nap. If I can arrange her nap straight after lunch (around 12 noon) she can stay awake til then. However, if our schedule means she has to stay up til 1 pm or later, I cuddle her in for a 10 minute nap around 11 am. Bedtime is 7 pm. However, babies are all different!!!
