Hi, Mamas!

I am curious to know how many hours per day are your May 2008 toddlers sleeping? Mine sleeps for about 13 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night and takes two naps 1.5 hour naps everyday. That works out to be at least 16 hours of sleep everyday!

He is a very happy guy, but if he needs his sleep and doesn't get it -- watchout! :) Sometimes I feel like a slave to the sleep schedule, but other times I feel like it is nice to have a little time to myself.

I'd love to hear what your little ones are doing!

My daughter is sleeping 8-10 hours at night, and napping usually once a day 2-3 hours. Since the days are getting shorter, she's wanting to wake up earlier so there is more time to play outside!

My son is down to sleeping once during the day from 1pm to 3pm in the afternoon plus he sleeps right through the night only waking up for a few seconds to drink water. His bedtime is 8pm in the evening and he will usually wake up between 7am and 8am in the morning. It really helps to have a sleeping schedule that way one is able to plan activities around these schedules and you also are able to plan your alone time as well. My son also gets quiet cranky if he misses his afternoon nap so keeping to schedule is important.

Your so lucky!! My little guy sleeps only 4 hours of uninterupted sleep at night then up every two hours after that until about seven then it's party time he thinks. He gets one nap a day for about two hours. I wish I got that much needed rest. I work in the evenings so when I get home at 11:00pm he is still up. So to bed for him is midnight or so. Up at 4, 6, and 8 then nap at 1:00. So hard for me to function like this but don't know what to do. Never had this problem with the older kids. Maybe it's because I'm much older and cant handle little sleep. The other kids are 17 years and 13 years I have a hard time getting them out of bed. Crazy I know

You'll probably know when he's ready to take just one nap. My son went from two naps to one nap on his own...he would go to sleep around 10am for his first nap, wake up around noon or 12:30 and then stay awake until 8pm when we put him to bed....so i finally decided to wait to put him down to sleep until 11 or 11:30am...so now he wakes up around 2pm or so, and he's ready to go to sleep around 7:30-8pm. He sleeps through the night until 7:30-8am, depending on the day...sometimes he wakes up but stays in his bed just hanging out for half an hour or so until he gets tired of being alone :)
One good thing is that we're not slaves to his schedule, if he has to go a little earlier or later, he usually doesn't have a problem...sometimes he has skipped his nap altogether and just taken little cat naps in the car while we're running errands...
It's funny how easily we get used to the good life though!!! I am due with my second one in a couple of months, and i am remembering when my son was a newborn and i got no more than 4 hours of sleep at night, and then during the day, he took 10-20min cat naps throughout the day, not letting me do much or sleep much!!! Talk about being a slave to the sleep schedule!!! :D

Mine is on the same kind of routine, has been since she was little. I would rather her get the sleep she feels she needs then deprive her. After all at her age she knows what amount of sleep is best.

My son is the exact same way!! He will sleep 12-13 hours a night then takes 2- 2 hour naps during the day!! It makes it hard to go anywhere because if he doesn't get his nap in he is the crankiest little thing out there. When he gets his naps in he is very happy. When he is awake he is a ball of energy and goes full throttle the entire time. I love nap times....I can actually get things done around the house and have a little "me" time.

Mine does about the same as yours. She sleeps about 12 to 13 hours. I try to get her in bed between 7:30 and 8 and then I have to get her up between 6:30 and 7 to leave the house so on weekends she gets to sleep till like 8 and once even 9. She really needs a morning and an afternoon nap and I don't feel like she is getting enough sleep because she has been very cranky when she comes home from daycare like she is just soooo tired. They only give a 2 hour nap once from 12:30 to 2:30. Not sure how I could change that one!

My daughter sleeps from around 9pm to 9am uninterrupted and takes one 2-3 hour nap each day. She weaned herself down from 2 naps around 11 months! Like some others have mentioned, I also feel like a total slave to her sleep schedule, but it's so much better when she follows her schedule. It's also nice to have some alone time as well! I'm relieved that she's such a good sleeper now, because for the first 3 months after she was born, she totally had her days/nights mixed up. I never thought she'd be a good sleeper, but I'm now blessed.

Mine sleep from 9pm - 6.30/7am in the morning...sometimes he wakes through the night as he gets restless or loses his pacifier. I sleep in the same room as him, so if he needs me I am right there....I am happy with this.
He also has 2-3hr nap in the morning and in the afternoon most days. Some days he has a good 3-4 hour nap before lunch then he will stay up til bed time. I just work around when he needs to nap....I dont set him a schedule...makes for a happier lil man.

My son sleeps 11 hours a night and only takes one 1.5 hour nap a day. All of my sons were different at this age so I am not too worried. Today he slept for 3 hours during his nap.

wow i would love to have the schedules all of your children have! my fiance and i work totally opposite schedules! my daughter usually goes down about 10:30-11 but has gotten into the routine of waking up and wanting to play at around 1a.m because that is the time i usually am picking her up from the babysitter when i get off work and is determined that she has to stay up til daddy goes to work at 3:30a.m. thankfully my 3 month old loves to sleep! & but my 16 month old will sleep til at least noon the next day which works for me to some extent! she normally takes a nap around 5 for about a half hour to an hour after a big fight! ive tried getting her up earlier in the morning with no luck she is just a royal grouch the whole day! she hates sleep and always has! i actually got her on a schedule when i was on maternity leave but now that im back to work shes back at her routine which shes happy with but is killing me im at my whits end and dont know what to do! she maybe sleeps 10-12 hours a day if im lucky! my 3 month old however is her polar opposite thank goodness and goes down at 9:30 and stays down till 11 the next morning no matter if i have to work or not i just bring her home and put her in her bed and shes good to go! anbody else have a child that absolutely hates to sleep?!?!?

My daughter switched to one nap on her own. She would take a morning nap and then never take another no matter how cranky she got. She would play, not cry, for an hour in her crib for her afternoon nap. So I shifted her morning nap to later. We had to keep her really busy and interested in the morning and then I put her to bed earlier at night. It took about a week for her to be comfortable again. Another thing I noticed at the same time was her taking longer to go to sleep at night when she did take an afternoon nap. Hope this helps. I'm a big proponent of just paying attention to the babes and letting them decide mostly what's good for em!

Thanks for letting me know what your toddlers are doing! For the last couple of weeks I tried to get him down to one nap a day so that I could have a little more freedom during the day and it totally made him miserable and overly tired....so then he wasnt napping well or sleeping well at night. This week we are back to our usual 2 naps a day and our household is MUCH happier for it.

Wow your toddlers get a lot of sleep. I don't think there is a such thing as too much sleep. I was read a 15mo old should get like 13hrs of sleep total a day. Mine sleeps thru, 7:30 to 6, we have to wake her for daycare and work. On weekends she sleeps til 7 max. She takes one after lunch nap for about 1.5 hrs. On an excellent day she sleeps 13hrs, normally more like 11-12.

My twins sleep from 8 at night until about 9 in the morning if left to thier own devices. Then they take one 2-3 hour nap in the early afternoon. I was a little worried about that myself but our ped. told us that it was completly normal.

My Patrick sleeps from about 8:30 pm - 7:00 am (on average) most nights. Plus, he gets a 2-2.5 hour nap once daily. So that's about 13 hours. I am TOTALLY a slave to the schedule - we work everything around nap time. I would really recommend trying to keep him up longer and getting down to one longer nap a day. My daycare and I started getting Patrick ready for one nap at about 14 months. Now, if we entertain him throughout the morning, he will hold out until about 1:00 and sleep until 3:00 (or 3:30 at home). It's easier on me to get one long break rather than two little ones (and this goes along with my two year old's schedule too). He's probably worn out from all of his adventuring, but I wouldn't worry if he's a happy guy when he is awake.
