Just recenly I have been skipping the 4th bottle of formula a day. I had read that at this age they don't need 4 or 5 bottles a day but I have been seeing on here that some of you still do and saying that they need the extra calories and nutrients. So I'm a little lost on what I should really be doing and am I doing the right thing or not? Anybody out there that can help me?

My son will be 11mos in a few days. Depending on his sleep he will take 3-5 7oz bottles in a 24 hour period. I do give him only 6oz of formula to 7oz of water due to issues with constipation. Now and then he will wake in the middle of the night and take a full 7oz bottle. He will also take 2-3 jars of food with cereal a day and eat off of my plate as well. I have tried to give him juice, but he doesn't want it. Some days he eats almost non-stop all day and other days he doesn't want to eat at all.

My daughter is 10.5 months and is getting (4) 6 oz. bottles a day (although she rarely drinks more than 4-5 oz. of it) and is getting 3 meals a day of some baby food but mostly she likes table food and won't eat baby food anymore. My doctor said at this age she should be getting around 24 oz. a day (but even when he wanted her to get @ 30 oz. a day she would still only drink about 24). I am sure you are doing everything just right. If a baby is hungry they will be sure and let you know and if they get full they will stop eating so just follow their cues!

About 3-4wks ago my daughter was eating almost 40oz of formula in a 24hr period. She went down to 30oz and then a few days ago is down to about 27oz of formula a day.

At my son's 9 month check up the pediatrician said that he should be getting about 24 ozs a day.  My son has between 18-22 ozs a day.  Sometimes he will have 24 ozs but not regularly.  He is also eating about 2 jars of food a day as well.

My daughter is 10 months and she takes 6 bottles a day (5 to 6 oz) plus three solid meals (Stage 2 jar of food). She also gets some finger foods once a day. She has always been a bigger child (length and height). I feel like I am feeding her all day long but I know she needs what she takes and she's not overweight so she's not taking into much food. I look forward to the day that she no longer needs so many feedings during the day.

Hey there. I had a problem with my 10 1/2 month old son not even wanting his bottle and the doctor told me as long as he is eating plenty of other foods and drinking juice that eveything would be fine. He know only drinks 2 8oz bottles a day. He eats other foods and snacks through out the day.

When i took my son for his 9 month check up his dr. told me that i should begin to skip one bottle a day. She said she would be happy with 20 oz. of fomula a day. so he was getting 4 8 oz. bottles a day so i now give him 3.  7 oz. in the morning. 7 oz. at 12 or whenever he wakes up from his nap and the 5 oz. before he goes to bed. Now that my son is a little over 10 months i've been trying to lessen his bottle intake because i think it will make it a little easier to ween him off of then the time comes. But he also does eat a good deal a day so he's getting a lot of the nutrients he needs. I hope this helps you out a little. your baby's adorable.

Hi there,

I have a 10.5 month old baby girl. She will have 20-25 ounces of formula a day, that includes the milk I mix in with her cereal. She is growing and thriving. I suggest you just offer him the extra bottle if your worried, If he takes it or not- I personally dont think it matters just follow is lead he will let you know if he wants more. goodluck::)

At our 9m visit the pedi suggested between 22-28 oz / day. She gets a 4oz upon waking, then eats breakfast about an hour later. She has a 6oz before nap, then eats lunch a little later, then a 6 oz before her afternoon nap, then a snack of Gerber puffs and then a 6oz in the afternoon and a 4oz before bed. Some days a little more and others a little less. She is still on baby food, since she only has the start of 2 teeth, and she is not using a cup at all, nor is she drinking juice. I have tried water, but the cup just isn't cutting it for her!

My little girl just turned 10 months last week...My ped said that for 10-11 month olds, they should be getting 22-28 ounces a day, as milk should still be their MAIN source of nutrients the first full year. My daughter takes 5-6 milk feedings a day: a 6-8 oz bottle when she wakes up, a "pre-nap" nursing, a post-nap/pre-lunch nursing + 4-6 oz of formula, another pre nap nursing + bottle, a pre-dinner nursing or bottle and her before bed bottle, 4-8 oz depending on how much she ate at dinner :)

My little one still has 3-4 a day and sleeps all through the night. The bottles are only 6-7 oz. If he eats the stage 3 food and the table food I give him at each meal he only takes 3 bottles. If your child is happy and eats well don't worry about more bottles. Listen to what your doctor says. I am trying to have me son take the formula from a cup so that a year, the bottle will go away. It worked with my first two but this one likes the bottle more, so I will see if he makes the transition to cup easy or not.

My son will be 10 months next week and he has about 4 or 5 bottles a day but some are 6oz and some are 4oz I just go by what he wants. He also eats baby food but does not seem to like finger foods yet. I think every mother knows what is the best for their child.

My little man gets 3 bottles a day. Two are 6oz and one is 8oz. Thats only 20oz a day. He dropped the bed time bottle about 2 months ago. He does eat alot of solid foods (he can eat half a bagel, 12 blackberries and 1/4 cup of peas for lunch), and I try to vary them so that I know he is getting lots of different nutrients.

I would check with the doc at the next appt. My doc said it all depends on the solid food, general hunger of the baby, how active they are. He also said if the baby is hungry to feed them- they will tell you when they are done, or don't want anymore

I just had my babies 9 month check up and she told me they should only have 24 oz a day!  My baby is drinking between 18-24oz a day I think it depends on how much table food they get.  There are days that my son doesnt want food and wants bottles and I dont see anything being wrong with that.  As long as your baby is healty and not over weight then you are fine!  Every baby is different!

My 10.5 mo gets 5-6 bottles everyday. Not all of them are 7 oz, when he eats his food he will take a couple oz at each meal (kinda like a cup of milk with breakfast or lunch).

hello there, my little one is ten months and she has three or four in a day, i think it depends on your baby. How much solid food is he eating? If he is eating his three meals a day and the odd rusk or snack i would not worry that he isn't getting enough calories and nutrients he should be ok.  Though my girl has her bottle to go to sleep so it depends on her naps to how many she has. Just pay attention to what he wants they are not shy to express when they want something, if he wants an extra bottle here and there i don't think your doing the wrong thing, he might just slowly not want the extra bottle the more he eats.
