Yes, my daughter has been walking since she was 8 and a half months and is so used to it now she has stopped crawling all together in the last four weeks. Her legs are quite far apart when she walks tho, is that normal? Im worried she might have started walking before her legs were really ready.. she was crawling at five months and standing at six so there was really no stopping her

Our little girl Jordyn had started to take a few steps around 9 months then she got an ear infection and that really threw everything off....but she is back on track she is taking 8 or more steps at a time un-assisted. She is so funny everytime she is standing on her own she starts clapping for her self and looks around the room to make sure other people notice and are clapping also....what a ham. I simply can not believe that she will be one before I know it :(

Yes my lil Princess is walking i though she would be late because all my other Friends with babies the same age she was behind them in everything else but walking she has been doing it for a month now and it's getting much better. My son started walking at 9 months so she was behind him

[deleted account]

i see you have your answers already but i just thought id say my daughter has just turned 11 months today and she was walking one handed at 8 months and totally alone at 9-10 months.all babies are different-my son didnt walk until 15 months so try not to worry too much about ages and mile stones-they really are all different.x

My baby girl isn't even crawling yet, let alone walking. All in her good time. My son didn't start crawling till he was 10 - 11months then got up and started walking before he turned one.. so every baby is different

Quoting Katie:

My son started walking independently at 9 1/2 months (about 3 weeks ago). Each time he sets off he still laughs, and is clearly incredibly excited about his new found independence! He can go about 5 or 6 steps before tumbling over, and then he's up and off again! Brilliant fun!!

how exciting! isn't it great how simple life is for babies!  how their enthusiasm and excitement is contagious!!!

Sophie will be 10 months next week and she toddles around like a little pro! Her first steps were right around 9 months and two or three weeks later she's walking everywhere! It was adorable at first and made me very proud...but now she goes from room to room destroying everything in her path =) I just follow her around and clean up after her...

Lily is crawling - mostly comando but also normal, depends on how fast she wants to get somewhere!, she is also pulling herself up to knees and feet but can't get the moving of the feet yet. It is slowly happening but when she pulls herself up she just standing and bops! I am trying to help her get the idea of putting feet in front of each other but shes not that interested yet.

I was also a little worried after reading all these post, but I do know that they all develop differently, even in my mummies group IRL. You can see that they all developing so differently but as long as they are progressing, who cares!!

my 1st didn't walk until he was 13 months. My youngest (10mos) will walk a bit while holding or pushing something, but not by himself. I think it will still be at least another month or so for that.

My son is only crawling but he pulls himself up onto his knees. He hasnt mastered pulling himself up to his feet yet. My other sons all walked at 10 months old so this just proves that all babies excel at there own pace. Im not sure if its because this last baby was bigger then my other boys but Im sure my little guy will be walking and getting into things in a few months!

My son does the butt shuffel thing as well, he doesn't "crawl" in the traditional sense. He gets around really well doing this. He is starting to walk along the couches and if holding onto something. He will stand on his own for only a couple of seconds before he falls. Everyone in my family is amazed at how early he is getting around, as the rest of my nieces and nephews didn't start walking until about 14 months or so.

My little guy started crusing around 7 months and took his first independent steps around 8 1/2 months. He is now 10 months and can walk across two rooms. Although if he wants to get somewhere fast, he drops the floor and takes off with his baby gorilla scoot.

Charlotte -

Do not worry.  Most babies do not walk until a year and even a few months after that is "normal".    As for not crawling, I believe that the rule is that as long as he is mobile in some way then he is doing fine.   My son seemed to prefer bottom shuffling to crawling (I did too).  I think some babies just figure out that it is more efficient.  It frees up his hands so he can take his toys with him.

My daugter climbs on everything, and cruises a lot, but she isn't standing or walking on her own without support yet. However, my sisters little girl, who was born about a month before Samantha, has been walking forat least two months! They all do it at their own pace....
