Hi everyone,

Welcome to the May 2008 Babies community, where we chat about our May 2008 children and whatever else is on our minds!

To get things started, I thought it would be nice if we all introduced ourselves in this thread, which will be pinned to the community home page. Whether you're a Circle of Moms veteran or you're new to the site, let us know who you are, what you’re interested in, and what your lovely May 2008 child is up to right now, developmentally speaking!

Hello My name is Michelle and Mickayla is my almost 4 year old her bday is May 25th. I am a single mother but i have a reaqlly good support system. My grandmother is my baby sitter for anything i need to do. My daughter has been living with me half the time and my parents the otehr half because for 3 years i have been working night shift at the hopsital during the week. I wasnt comfortable with letting a stranger watch her over night so my paernts and I came up with an arrangement. Since Jan 2012 i changed my shift to weekends so she can live with me and be stable. At first everything was good but now a days shes been misbehaving so much. When you talk to her she doesnt listen, she talks back alot. Eventhough she has been in school for two years, the past few days all she does in school is cry. Shes not eating or playing, all she is doing is crying. I do not know what to do. I've tried taking away all her toys, talking to her with out yelling but her behavior is not getting better. I do not know what to do. I dont like the fact that shes starting to misbehave so badly.

Howdy folks! My name is Nannette and I'm the mother of two beautiful little ones. My daughter was born 5/1/08 and my little man 8/5/10. I live in the small town of Cecilia in KY and work in a bookkeeping and income tax office with my family. My daughter loves to sing and dance and her little brother tries his best to dance too. She talks non-stop and there again, he's tryin to keep up! They both started walking about the same time 9-10 months! Parenting is challenging but is a job that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

Hi I'm Baylie, a 23 year old stay at home mom! My family and I just moved to Australia. I have a 4 year old boy and a 3 year old boy (5/6/08) I have my hands full with them being so close. But they are into the same sports, and like doing the same things. Tyson can count to 20 and is completely potty trained. We're working on writing his name but he can't decide if he wants to be a lefty or righty. I love to scrapbook in my spare time but with us recently being in Australia makes it hard because all of my stuff is at home in the U.S. I enjoy baking, cooking, cleaning, being crafty, and playing with my kids and meeting their needs!

Hi, I'm Candace (22). I just joined circle of moms. My son Jakson (5/12/08) and I live in Oregon City, OR. He is an only child. He is shy when he first meets new people but is quick to warm up and be himself. Jakson loves to build things and always wants to be outside playing and running. He likes sports like basketball and baseball.

As for myself, I am pretty laid back, most of my friends that I had before jakson aren't to close anymore I have moved plus things are different for a 22 year old then they are for a 22 year old mother.

I enrolled into the Medical Assistant Program, going for the Associates degree. I'm also a huge stamper and scrapbooker. I try to find time each week to sit and do something that I love. I'm currently making baby frames, and name frames, and a few wedding and etc. What my little lovely May 2008 baby is up to. M (my son) is going through his second year of speech. Just got some pictures done through the school with his older brother. Being very good at getting into things. His word vocab is getting much larger and it's getting much easier to understand what he wants or needs.

Hi name is Riley and he has recently started head butting everything, he is always talking. He loves counting and is learning how to write his name. He is potty trained during the day and sleep times, which is amazing! Riley has a 1 year old sister, Annabelle, and loves to hug, bump, kiss, and otherwise bug her as much as possible. :)

Hi,
My name is Twila Smith and I have a beautiful 3 year old named Serenity Anne. She is a bit of a prima dona and a princess. She loves to watch Dora and play with her trains or barbies. She is fairly tempermental like her Mom but is absolutely precious and very curious about everything. She also loves hanging out with Grammy and Papa. She's probably a little too spoiled but hopefully it will help when her brother/sister comes along in April.

Hello, my name is Amanda and I have my first child in May 2008. I was in labor with him for 19 hours, during which they discovered that he was coming out bum first. So I ended up having an emergency c-section. He is now a very active three year old with a very quiet nature. He reads most of the time, which has made things interesting now that he has a little sister. He has started to read some of the stories to her, but he gets upset with her when she doesn't sit and listen the whole time. I have to encourage him to go outside without a book and play. However, once he is with other children he has a lot of fun play and using his imagination.

Hi!!

My names catherine, and I had my son, Kane in May 2008 by c-section. He is now 3yrs old, and we are concerned regarding his speech development and potty training!! His speech really hasn't developed as to were we'd expect it to have by this stage. He had his 3 yr development check last week and the nursery nurse agreed that he does seem to be developmentally behind where he should be. Physically hes absolutely fine, running, jumping, climbing with no problems, lol! He just doesn't seem to be picking up speech very well. We have been to ee Speech & Language who actually felt he was saying the right sounds he should be for his age and said, basically, not to worry and that his vocabulary should just develop with lots of encouragment in the next few months! Anyway, due to his speech his nursery is now thinking he might be autistic and have applied for a one-to-one teacher to work with him nursery. I have mixed feelings about this. One I don't want him to be labelled as 'special' or 'different' from such a young age, but then I also think that if a one-to-one teacher will help him to focus and come on a bit more in time for school so that he wont be behind when he starts then that can't be a bad thing! As for potty training, we are no-where near. I have tried sitting him on the toilet at times and thats been hit and miss. Hes started to realise when hes done a poo now and will say 'my poo' when he has, lol. Any tips regarding potty training would be wonderful though!!

Thanks,

Catherine

Hello Moms!

My name is Heather and my May baby is the youngest of three kids. My son is 9, daughter is 7 and my youngest is 3. I am currently a full time student and work part time. My husband is a baseball coach and is finishing up grad school. We live in Colorado and absolutely love it, however we are currently under flood watch because of the snow caps melting at a later and faster rate than usual. My 9 year son is a very laid back kid who is always busy doing something. He is very much into baseball and football as well as student council. He wears his heart on his sleeve though and that scares me! My 7 year old daughter is very much a girlie girl but has no problem getting dirty! She plays softball and is a natural gymnist. My 3 year old daughter is very unique and surprises me everyday. She has the ability to problem solve, memorize and figure things out before I can. She loves Justin Beiber and Tulo( Rockies baseball player). I went back to school a year ago after working very hard to move up the "corporate ladder" only to find out that if you do not have a degree, you are stuck. My feelings of what I want to do with my degree has changed and I am confused about what I want to do. I know I want to help people and I have been having ideas popping into my head on a daily basis!! I love being a mom and would not give it up for the world!

Hi, I recently moved to the South Bay area from the Midwest. My awesome son Evan was born May 9th 2008. Even at 3, he is still very cuddly (I love it!), but certainly not shy and loves to play with other kids. We're still trying to find more playmates in the area. Potty training and getting ready for a new sibling have been are recent challenges.

Charlie's a very happy and sociable kid but for the last 1 1/2 yrs Charlie's had a hard time with speech and motor skills and has been seeing early intervention and ABA...which has done wonders. He's such a great, fun-loving kid!! We're in the process of getting evaluations for preschool for services and getting a concrete diagnosis for him. We'll see what they say!!

Hi my name is Cheryl and I have a little boy who was born on May1. He is a well rounded little guy. We have conquered potty training almost. He has no problem peeing the potty by himself and on good days he will even poop in the potty but on other days he goes in hiding and does it. Speaking he is speakingh real well and clearly. I guess because he is around a child that I watch who speaks clearly so he started talking clearly as of October. He plays well in groups or even alone.

Hi, I just got on here, and was browsing though the topics, thought I would introduce myself in case some people saw my responses to their posts!
My son Will was born on May 18th, 2008 and his sister was born Nov 3rd, 2009. So we're a pretty busy little household. I love having them so close together though. I stay at home with them right now while I'm finishing up school. It is awesome to be able to stay at home with them and after reading though many of the posts on the May 2008 babies, I think I'm going through many of the exact same things, potty-training, bedtimes, etc...
It's fun isn't it!

Hi, I am new here and this is my first post, so I hope I am doing it right!

I am a SAHM with my 2 1/2 year old boy, Kohen, and my 7 month old boy, Judah. I taught special education prior to my first son's birth.

Kohen is a sweet, full of energy big brother. He loves to read books, play outside, pick up toys, and entertain his little brother. His biggest accomplishments so far are 1- Potty Training (@ 27 months) and 2- He can recognize every letter of the alphabet and his numbers to 20.
His current interests are memorizing his favorite books (he already knows Little Blue Truck, Dr. Suess' ABC, Go Dog Go, and much of One,Fish, Two Fish), learning new songs with motions, and he is learning the sounds that each letter makes (he knows half of them already). He loves learning and has taken these interests without any prompting from me (like I could do much prompting while caring for a infant, HA!)

Hi ladies, I'm Alisa and I am Mum to Alex John Drewett or AJ. He was born on the the 13th of May 2008. He is a great wee guy. Quickly developing a sense of humour right now so loves to sneak up and 'surprise' people and tickle us. Then roars with laughter. He is mad about anything which has wheels or wings and is always busy making engine noises etc. My husband, Alex & I live in Greystones, Ireland although my husband is actually English and I am from New Zealand. We have another baby due in September, so fun times are ahead as we don't have Mums or Mum in laws nearby, sadly. But we have plenty of friends who also have toddlers of similar ages. Alex goes to creche 2 full days a week while I'm working (part time) at the moment which he really loves.
Looking forward to hearing your stories, woes and adventures and sharing mine!
Talk soon.

Considering she is only 2, she is a very bright little girl who I wouldnt change for the world, even though she can be a bit of a handful. She is very very independant, but is a credit to my little family. Am having slight problems potty training her, cos she doesnt seem to want to sit for long enough on the potty before she does her 'business' and would prefer to wee on the floor then in a potty. I love her more then anything in this world, and would never change her for the world. Am currently trying for another baby, so Abi can have either a brother or sister

She is in the mimic stage, and has to repeat everything we say. She growls at me if I growl at her, and makes us laugh all the time. Maddison is such a character, and I love spending everyday with her as it holds something new for us both. It's like I get a second go at childhood fun. I also run a Photography Business here in Waiuku/Auckland, New Zealand, so I get to meet plenty of families and their children. Maddison loves to meet new people too, she's social like her mother...she's like a mini me. Isn't life just better with children!?
I'd love to hear from people, so feel free to contact me.
