Hi there, my little monkey eats ok during the day, weetbix, toast, bananas, bicuits, but when it comes to dinner time and anything warm, it has to be mashed to a pulp, no lumps, any little bit of texture and he spits it out. and screws up his face and then refuses to eat it, if i put it back in the food processor and mix it up again until its like water he will eat it all up, and even wants more. I dont know what to do, i have offered him food from my husbands plate but if its not on a spoon he just wont eat it?? any ideas

Great idea Cindy yeah i will give it a go sometime its got to be worth a shot anyway if it gets him off the infant milk. Birdseye also do the battered fish fingers but there doesnt seem to be as much fish in them as the Youngs ones however the Youngs ones are harder to find i know Morrisons and Farmfoods stock them and farmfoods are the best on price too i can only ever get the birdseye ones from Asda and Tesco. Anyways good luck and let me know how you get on will keep my fingers crossed for you x

thanks claire, i am going shopping tomorrow to i am going to start tomorrow night...fingers crossed. A friend of mine, her little girl does not drink cows milk, loves the taste of infant formula, and she is nearly 18 months drives her mum crazy. But she was told to offer her little girl soy milk (as it taste exactly like formula) and then wean them from that, just add a little bit of cows milk each day to the mix. Never tried it, so cant be sure if it works but worth a try. IF you do try it, could you let me know if it works :)
thanks Cindy

No Probs Cindy, i was at my wits end with my little boy he wouldnt eat anything unless it was like water so i asked a few mums for advice and they all came back with battered fish fingers i think the breadcrumbs are a little hard for little one to swallow so they tend to refuse them but the Youngs ones went down a treat bit of advise though if you buy the youngs ones sit them on some kitchen roll for a few mins while they cool as it will remove some of the greese from the batter. Scrambled egss were good a few times now he wont touch them lol the potato alphabets are good too or smiley faces. Keep up the puree vegs though coz he still needs his veggie goodness. Its not the healthy way but it will soon get him used to chewing food. Let him sit in his high chair with the food on the the tray he will play with it at first but then he will soon work out what to do with it. I really hope this works for you it was a life saver for me! Now i just need a mirical to get my little boy off infant milk he will not drink cows milk it just makes him gag so thats my next big hurdle! :o(

thanks claire..Like you said its not the healthy option but if it gets him eating hot lumpy food i will give anything a go, just until he is used to it. He loves his puree veggies so he wont be happy but i am so over mashing his food..lol

Hi Cindy,

My little boy is kinda the same, however he will eat a few things like fish fingers (have to be batter not breadcrumbs) chicken dippers and little potato alphabet shapes i know they aint the most healthy of options but it got him used to eating hot lumpy foods might be worth a go my little one loves youngs chip shop fish fingers. Scrambled egg was also another good one to try.

I wish you luck

Claire x
