I have a baby girl who was born in this time period. Has anyone else tried to start potty training their kids this age?

At this age it is more about learning to sit on potties and such but we learned in nursing school that pathopsyiogically a child not does fully develop the mylon sheath on the lower lumbar area that is responsible for letting a child feel the "urge" to go potty. So my son is 18months this week and we are just learning to sit on the potty and such. I have not pushed the issue having learned the pathopys.
When do they develope the "scientific word :)" and the urge to go potty? I am waiting too until my daughter just looks so ready she does it herself, hopefully! But she goes to the bathroom with me and we talk bout it and I ask her to tell me when she has pooped in her diaper. We're not there yet.

My 1st born girl who is now 12, was potty trained by 18 months & dry by night within a week! A clinic sister recently told me not 2 bother potty training my 18 month old Faith, as it won't b possible as she is 2 young. My 4 yr old potty trained himself by copying his older brother & was dry by night at 21 months. So looks like I know betta than her, as my 18 month old Faith has already used the potty quite a few times in the last 2 weeks! 1 thing I am experiencing 4 the 1st time is that Faith gets upset when she actually wees on the potty, any ideas y?

We just started with my son yesterday. He didn't care too much to sit on his potty so we bought a seat for the big potty and he loves it. My son also doesn't talk much (and he is a preemie) but he has his way of letting us know and we are very repetitive in what we say. So far he has gone twice in the potty. But he has learned to try and tell us just before he goes, unfotrunately it's not soon enough to grab him and take him and him letting us know is consisting of screaming/whining right now. LOL! But I really think we're making progress!

We want to start with our son, however he's not talking that much, hopefully he'll talk more in the next few months to let us know he needs to go because he LOVES to copy us!
Have you tried using sign language? My son talks but also uses signs that we've taught and that hes made up to communicate what he wants. His latest is to squeeze the front of his diper to tell me he needs to go pee or pat the back after he's already pooped to tell us he's ready for a change.
To me starting potty training is about talking and showing the child what is going on with their body and showing by example what we do. Next is a routine of trying. I think of it as a process rather than an event.

I've been working our way to the potty with my daughter. She will tell me after she's poo-pooed in her diaper, so I think I going to start sitting her down on the potty when I see the signs. I'm not sure how to teach her about pee-pee, she doesn't seem to correlate the word with the action yet.

I've just started trying to get my little girl to sit on the potty. She's now able to tell me when she wants to poo, but unfortunately enjoys saying it so much that she also tells me it at other times! As for sitting on the potty, she hates it and screams if I try to sit her on it. However, we're keeping it in the room, and she's sitting on it fully dressed at other times now, and looking really pleased with herself, so hopefully in time she'll accept sitting on it without her nappy.

I did start with my daughter and we had one good day but we are so busy with other things it kinda got pushed off. We have every intention of starting back up again in the next month or so.

my son just turned 17 months and we started potty training last month at 16months old. we had a break through today when he told the nanny he wanted to make a poo and actually sat on the potty and did his poo. Persistence pays.
