I am just staring to hire a teen babysitter for Archer, my son, who is a year and 8 months old (like all of yours :D)
I have no idea what to pay her!!

She will be watching him from 5pm till around 8:30pm
Then another day from 5:30 or so until around 11pm.

What do you all pay??

well 4.5 hours at minimum wage would be about $40... so i would say $25- 35 dollars, but if they have access to your computer and the kids are sleeping, $30.... deduction for sleeping and computer/internet access...

I used to get 5 an hour and it would go up depending on how many children i was watching. and for my more regular ppl if i was watching them over night i would do like a flat rate for that whole night.

i have never had someone besides family watch my daughter. but i am a stay at home teen mom and i babysit on the side for extra money and if its all day from 9am-5pm i charge $20 a day. to keep them over night is $30 but if i had to charge by the hour i would say $6-8 depending on experience.

Probably depends where you live, eh? We live in a college town in central PA and paid a teenage baby sitter $7/hr and I felt like that was even a bit high.

I have 2 sitters I use. One is 14 years old and I pay her $7/hour and the other is 18 years old and I pay her $11. I think that it should depend on the sitters age and experience. You want to be fair, don't under pay your sitters because they may not provide the best care for your child. I have my own home daycare so I know that childcare can be expensive but you want to keep the person who is caring for you child happy and low balling them is not the way to go.

For a young teen sitter I would do around 5-6 per hour. For an older one who can drive, or that you really like and want to be her go to family, do the 10. When i was 15-17 I normally got 5 or 6 (unless it was a crazy amount of kids). Once I was older and drove myself and was in college and whatnot I started charging more.

imho, $10/hr is too much for a teenager.
we pay our teen baby sitter $7/hr... and when i offered her that (thinking i was low-balling her) she seems pretty siked to get it! she said she usually only gets $5/hr from other clients.
the other teen girl we don't use quite as much gets $9/hr, but she seems to have a little more experience, so i'm okay with it.

Im and in home child care provider and i charge 200$ a month or 10$ a day.. when i baby-sat when i was a teenager my price was 20$ flat rate as long as it wasn't more than 6hrs, after that i charged an additional 5$ an hour.. after what you girls are saying i have to say i should have asked for more lol. then again i never did it for the money i did it because i love children and i guess that's why i made a business out of it :)

I have someone on Thursdays from 930 to 2 and I pay 40. It seems like so much but everyone I know says 10/hr. I'm curious to hear what others here say!

Wow! $10 an hour? So if I have someone watch my son from 5-8 I would pay $30!
And from 5:30-11:30pm $60?!

I think 10/hour is pretty standard these days for the occasional night out. I think for more regular scheduled sitting 8 is okay? Also don't be afraid to ask the sitter what she usually charges. If she usually gets 15 (which would be crazy!) but you don't know that and give 10 she might not be as reliable or something.
