My little boy is 2 on May 17 and he is such a fussy eater. Ever since he was 7 months old i have had problems with him eating he will eat a very limited diet and will only eat a few mouthfuls at most meals unless its baked beans, tin spaghetti or pizza. These are the only savory foods he likes and its getting really hard to get him to eat anything else. He will not even try foods even if we are eating with him he's still reluctant to try. He will just put it on our plates and tell us to eat it!

Usually i will get him to eat some of his main food (sometimes only 2 or 3 mouthfuls) and he will say enough or finished then i usually give him a piece of fruit so that i know hes had somehting but im thinking hes not eating his dinner as he knows hes getting fruit after and then his milk before bed.

Tonight i decided that if he wouldnt eat his main that was all he was going to get so i removed him from the table. Now i feel like a bad mother for not feeding him right but it is imposssible!

Does anyone else get this/ had this from their child? I keep thinking one day he'll change but its so hard when all you want to do is whats best for them!

My son's the same age and a very picky eater. He doesn't like mixing flavours, he's very particular about texture, and he never eats meat. Yesterday, we were lucky to get him to eat pepperoni (we were making pizza for ourselves), but I think he likes the salt. We try to get him to eat an egg once a week so we know he's getting protein that way. I'm grateful my son eats cereal for breakfast and loves fruit. He also likes cooked carrots, corn, peas, beans and lima beans (go figure), but never together. So we've got healthy choices, but it's still a limited diet. It makes going anywhere difficult because I always have to pack a lunch bag for him, but pickiness is probably a lot easier to deal with than severe allergies, so I'll just keep hoping my son will choose other foods as time goes on. Good luck to you, too!

P.S. My mom thought it was poetic justice that I have a picky eater for a son since I was apparently a very picky eater. She admitted, though, that I was never "quite" that picky. ;)

My daughter will be 2 on may 20th, she goes in spurts. Some days she eats like a bird and others she eats reallly good, but there's not much variety to what she'll eat. I give her "Gerber Smart Sips, in Vanilla", she loves them and drinks them all day long. I atleast have some peace of mind knowing she's getting the vitamin's and nutrients she needs, and I recently discovered that Big Lots has them for only $1.00 a pack, which is super cheap! She does the best with foods that she can feed herself and likes to try to use her toddler silverware. Her main diet though is carbs...cereal, chips, fries, mashed potatoes or pasta. that's about all she wants, on a good day she'll eat part of a mcdonalds cheeseburger, nuggets or pizza, and sometimes I have luck with Gerber's Pasta Pick-Ups, she likes those pretty well.

i had the same problem with my son he would only ever eat chicken nuggets and smily faces or potato waffels. he will be 5 this year and he is still going through it but he does eat a larger variety of food we took him 2 a dietition (sorry for spelling) and they said its just a fase and all kids go through it but it was worrying at the time. all you can do is persivier with him easier said than done i no! dont feel bad about it trust me thats all i ever did was feel bad and always felt it was my fault even though i tried my best with him. hope ur little 1 comes out of this fase soon as i know what your going through and its not very nice
