i gave my son a pillow the day he came home from the hospital! he slept in the bassinet part of a pack and play so i would lay him on top of the pillow so it would make it a lil more even and when i finally put him in his crib i used one of my own pillows( so it was flat and not to fluffy) and he is now 18 months old and i haven't had a single problem!

We've just moved our 18-month-old into a toddler bed and I was wondering about giving him a pillow too. He always shoves one of his blankets under his head anyway. Where did you find the toddler pillows you got?

We went on a cruise when our son was about 12 months old, and they put a pillow in the Pack n Play, and he just LOVED it. We waiting until he was in a toddler bed (14 or 15 months) and he uses it some of the time. He always associates pillows with sleeping. Last week when I was at work he took my pillow off my bed and drug it to his bed!
If you use a pillow in a crip I would suggest using a thin one, just to be safe, since everything I read when I looked up what age said to wait for a toddler bed (as someone stated they found the same thing).

I put a pillow in my son's crib, but I don't think he uses it. I put it in there because he would keep snuggling with the pillows on my bed and say "Ny-ny".

The only silly question is the one that you DON'T ask! I've been wondering the same thing. My son will lie down on the couch with a pillow, and sometimes falls asleep. But he thrashes around so much at night, I doubt a pillow will make him any more comfortable. I think I'll just play the wait and see game.

My son uses a pillow and he's 18 months old, he started when he was 17 months. He loves it. He moves around so much that half the night his head is on it or his legs. I took it away one night and he threw a fit.

It all depends on the child, with my daughter now 3 and my son 17 months they both started using a pillow at about 12 to 13 months. I gave them both a full size light weight kind of falt pillow. Just the cheap ones from Walmart (under $10) to start them out. Now my daughter has 4 normal pillows in her bed as she really moves around a lot and my son still has the falt one in his crib with no problems.

Not a silly question at all!! I just started using a full size pillow, now he's in a bed (because his older brother taught him how to climb out of his cot!) for a few months before that he was using a very slim (2cm) baby pillow. I think it your confident he is able to move to get comfortable and the pillow isn't too thick, then it's ok.

Boy - I hope it's not silly since my husband and I went ahead and bought our daughter a little pillow recently, then I wondered when was ok... I found some yahoo answers, etc that suggest the baby should be in a toddler bed when you introduce a pillow. I guess it makes sense. I'm not totally sure we'll wait since our daughter still spends often half the night in our bed and loves our pillows... Hope that helps!
