Our daughter has always been a great sleeper. We have had her in her "big bed" for about a month (we waited a bit since we had another baby in April). We have always followed a pretty strict bedtime routine, ending at the same time (7). She always usually fell asleep pretty quickly, but lately she is taking up to an hour or more to fall asleep, calling for me to come back into her room 2-4 times. I don't want to start keeping her up later as I don't think that's healthy (she still gets up between 5-6 regardless of bedtime). Any suggestions?

the best thing is to limit the midday naps,if she usually sleeps for 2 hours limit it to 1.she mustn't take any naps after 3pm

My son started to do the same thing since he was moved into a big boy bed. He has also been getting up in the middle of the night (4:30am) and wanting to crawl into our bed. We had another baby in March, so letting him scream himself back to sleep at 4:30am doesn't work that well, but sometimes that is what we have to do. This past 2 weeks or so he has reverted back to sleeping in a play pen and no longer wakes in the middle of the night.
With regards to taking forever to go to bed...We just ignore his calling and if he leaves his room we tell him to go back to his room or we just pick him up and put him back in his bed. Sometimes it can go on for over an hour.

My son has been doing the same thing lately...and the last 2 nights we have refused to acknowledge when he calls us...of course he wants mommy and daddy to visit him. I make sure he is all tucked in before we say the final goodnight and then just let him call for us and I don't say a word. It may seem harsh but I know he is not injured and not needing anything more than attention.

my daughter still naps up to 3 hrs and is a cranky monster if she doesn't nap! I also cherish my evenings, but by the time both kids are sleeping and the house is cleaned up, I go to bed. So much for "me" time!

We're having the same problem since my little one starting sleeping in her big bed. It drives me crazy because her bedtime antics cut into my tiny window of evening free time. I have to wonder if our little ones are getting close to not needing a nap. (That'd be challenging in its own way). On the days my daughter doesn't nap, she falls asleep quickly.
