Hi! I am a vegetarian and have been toying with the idea of raising my daughter this way. My husband eats meat (and lots of it) so I know it will be a challenge later on. I am not opposed to her eating meat later on, but my pedi advised me to begin giving her meat any time now (she's almost 7 months and has been eating solids sonce 4 months). I really don't feel like I want to give her meat. Do any of you feed your kids tofu or beans, or any other protein sources?

I am also a vegetarian and my husband eats a lot of meat. I am not a vegetarian by choice, the meat protines act like food poisoning to my system, so I do not eat meat. I think if you start now with her eating tofu or other types of protein at this age she will do fine on them. If you start meat now and try the tofu later, she may not eat it. I wonder how my son will be able to stomach meats, as we have not started them yet. My ped wants to wait until he is 9 mos before starting the meats...he started solids when he was 4 mos as well. If you do feed your daughter the mixed jar foods, if there is veggies listed first then there is not much meat in the mixture at all.
