My son weighhs ard 21 pounds, he's very weak, plus prone to infections... am very worried at times... He was a formula fed baby + 20 days born earlier. Doctors say he is perfectly fine as far as he is active.

My daughter was 6 pounds for ounces when she was born. She weighed 20 pounds at her 15 month check up just a couple days ago.

My daughter was born May 13, 2008 and she was 8 lbs 9 oz. At 12 months she was 30 lbs and I haven't weighed her since, but she is a big girl! She is running around all over the place, so she shouldn't weight much more then that still.

25 lbs currently.

There is NO ideal weight. If he is growing taller, but staying thin, he is making growth and you should not worry too much. My doctor says that kids grow at an exponential rate in the first year, but top off to slower growth because of their activity level (burning so many calories). Remember too, that if he is a bit more chubby at this time, it usually indicates that he is about to grow an inch or two...

So relax and just take good care of your son. Healthy food and plenty of playing should do the trick. If you really are worried, consult a pediatrician (or 2 if that doesn't help the first time). Enjoy your son for who he is and how his individual growth pattern will be :) Cheers!

I have a very little girl (20 lbs), plus girls tend to be smaller, but the important thing is that your child is following a typical weight progression. Does your doctor give you weight progress charts when you go for well-child check-ups? If not, I bet s/he just isn't giving you a copy but has a copy - I'd call your doc and ask to speak with a nurse if you don't want to bother making an appointment.

My son was born May 14, 2008 and was 8 pounds 2 oz at birth. At his last official weigh-in at the doctor about a month ago he was 25 pounds even. He had issues gaining at first due to really bad acid reflux - whatever went in came right back out. But he really started filling out when he started solid foods.

My son was born May 18th 2008 and he weighs around 22 pounds...but there are a lot of things to take into consideration...is he breastfed or formula fed? Breastfed babies tend to be chunkier, at least mine were. Was he preterm or full term? My son was a month early and would probably be considered on the low side of the "normal". How much does your son weigh?

My son turned 15 mos yesterday. He is a heafty 27lbs. He is also 34" tall. There was another little boy a few weeks younger than my son that we met and he was 22 lbs and 31" tall. I really don't think there is a "normal" weight...As long as they are healthy that is all that should matter.

My 15 month old son isn't even 14 pounds yet . . . he was also born 15 weeks early. As long as they are healthy and the doctors arent worried you should be fine.

My son was born May 14, 2008 and the ideal weight varies. When you go to the Dr. and they put them on the percentile chart they can tell you from that if they are ideal. Have you looked at adults ideal weights? They are ridiculously low. My son was 9 lbs 4 oz at birth and 21 in. long. It all varies with their build and such. Last time he was checked which would have been 1 year he was 25 lbs. He had trouble gaining in the beginning but not to where they were concerned about it. He was 5 months old and only gained 1 lb in a month. That was low to me. My family is tall so it really depends on hwo they carry their weight too. Don't fret over whether they are the avg. or ideal weight. As long as they are 50% on the weight chart he is fine. If your dr doesn't use that chart go to your local health dept. to the WIC program and they will chart him if you are concerned about it. I took my son to them when he wasn't gaining to see if he gained each week. They were great and understood my concerns even when the Dr. didn't seem to be.

The average weight for a 15 month old boy is around 25 pounds. My son will be 15 months at the end of august and he's only about 18 pound but he was born 10 weekes early.
