I'm just wondering what other moms are doing as far as bed times and wake up times for their May '08 babies.

Ours on a perfect day is as follows:

bedtime 8-8:30

awake 6am to bring dad to work (not sleeping through entire night)

nap at 7am-8am, 12:30-1:30, 4:30-5:30

Sometimes he only gets 2 naps.

Our daughter (may 6, 2008) goes to bed at 8pm and sleeps until around 7am sometimes closer to 8. She may get a little restless in the night but I just give her a pacifier and she goes right back to sleep.

She is in daycare part time so her nap schedule varies. Home with me 2 naps at daycare only 1.

I have friends who put their babies to bed much earlier but this is what works for us.

My daughter goes to bed between 7 to 8pm and usually wakes up by 9am at the latest but she doesn't sleep the night and wines 3 to 4 times some nights and some nights she has a better night and only wines/wakes up for a bottle once. We have had a few nights where we would put her down at 7 and she would be awake by 8/9 and want to play.

She has 2 naps a day one in the morning times vary depends on what time she wakes up and one around 1 to 2pm both naps for 1 to 3 hrs. I wake her in the afternoon if she is still sleeping at 4pm.

We give her a bottle to go to sleep with.

wow. my son gets up around 7-8 but will play in his crib for about an hour. then he goes down around 11-12 usually for 2-3 hrs. occasionally he will nap around 4ish if he wakes up before 1pm. i got the shades that darken the room and he went from 4 1/2 hr naps to 1 good 2-3 hr one... he starts to wind down around 430 (later if he naps 2x) and eats, tubs, plays, bottle o' milk and outtie by 630p. the last 3 nights he has been waking up after an hour or so (he could probably stay awake in there playing) and starts crying. when i go in he is sometimes wet or poopy but he just wants me. the last 3 nights i have given him more bottle and put him back in and he usually goes no problem. im wondering if i should put him in later??????

I haven't noticed a lot of mom's with the late night babies. I have never been able to get my daughter to go to bed earlier then 10:pm. She does go to bed without any fussing and sleeps till 9am, then nap time is at 1:30pm till 4:30pm. She just seems to love her sleep. But when she is up she is very active running around the house like a little monster lol.

I LOVE the fact that I'm seeing many May babies that still take 2 naps a day! Most of my friends/family think my son is completely weird.

Our normal day is:

Wake up: 8-9 am (usually wakes briefly around 5-6 then comes to bed with me)

1st nap: about 2-2 1/2 hrs after he wakes up so around 10-11 (sleeps about 1-2 hrs)

2nd nap: about 2-3 hrs after waking from 1st nap so around 3 (sleeps about 1-2 hrs)

Bedtime: is iffy...usually anywhere from 8-9:30 depending on how long his 2nd nap was

Quoting Jessa:

man most of you women are so lucky! My daughter goes to bed around 7:30-8pm and she wakes AT LEAST 3-4 times during the night! She will be awake at 6am latest and have one nap during the day around 1 or 2 pm for about 1/2 hour to an hour... How can I encourage to sleep better at night?

I suggest that you move dinner time and bed time routine a little later. My little man started doing that ahile back and so all we did was push back dinner to 7:30 and then he got his bath and then played until about 9 and then when he got completly exhausted we would put him down and that helped alot now he is pretty much back to the bedtime at about 8. He does wake up screaming bloody murder around 1030-11 though its like he is having nightmares, and all he wants is his mommy not even his precious blanket that fixes litteraly everything else does the trick. But hopefully I can get him out of that to. Sorry Im not much more help its all trial and error pretty much. I do have a question though at night when she wakes up is she wanting to eat, play, or wanting her paci. My son would wake up hungry so we started making sure he had a pretty full belly before he went to bed and as soon as we did that he slept complelty through the night until recently. As for the paci were trying to wheen him off it but he still gets it at night but since sometimes he would wake up and thats all he wanted we throw a bunch in there that way he always has access to one, without having to search to hard, the toy issue we fixed by getting one of those light up aquarium things with a remote, Ryan just pushes that button if he wakes up and lays back down and falls asleep watching and listening to the soothing noises. (that can backfire though lol) I hope some of this helps.

bedtime at 7p.m. sleeps through the night

wake at 6:30 but plays in bed until 7a.m.

a.m. nap 9:30-11

p.m. nap 2-3:30 but we are beginning to notice he is not consistently napping at that time so we may be close to dropping down to one nap per day

I really don't think there is any right answer it all depends on the child. For my son one nap a day would never cut it and they would learn that VERY quickly lol. Don't let them push you into anything yes they are around your child but no one and I mean no one knows your child better then you do. Its not up to them to make that choice just because its more convienant for them.

Well we start bedtime routine with dinner at 7, then he gets a bath, then dress for bed (screaming the whole time why would you want to get dressed when you have toys right? lol) and then we play until he gets completly tired usually about 845 or 9 then we lay him in his bed with his trusty green blanket and his paci and hes out usually until about 7 he gets a bottle of milk and he goes back to bed until 9 or 12 in the morning (on the weekends). During the week he has to stay up because we both work but in those cases and on the weekends he gets another nap about an hour after he gets up, why because he is just like his mother and absolutly loves his sleep lol. But since lately he has been passed around to so many loving family members that babysit for us his naps during the week really depend on what their schedule is. Sometimes he sleeps all day and sometimes hes up all day.

Totally agree with the "late-night" baby people! I stay home with my son during the day, so he usually goes to bed between 9:30-10ish. He rarely sleeps through the night. Normal waking-up time would be around 8:30am. 2 naps - usually 11-12:30 and 3-5.

Daycare is pushing for my son to get only 1 nap but on the weekends I have noticed he is clearly exhausted and ready for his nap by around 11. (Daycare puts him down at 12:30-1ish). He sleep well through the night from 8:30-6am. Does anyone else think only 1 nap is not enough?

Our son is in bed about 8-8.30 most nights and sleeps till about 7am. Although he is waking twice during the night at the moment. He has one sleep most days 12-2pm (ish) and every 3rd-4th day will have 2 1 1/2 sleeps.

my son is usually in bed between 8-9. He wakes up 2-3 times during the night but I can usually lay him back down after 15 minutes of rocking. He is awake by 6 (if I'm lucky) and He will usually nap once or twice. Depending on what the activity level is at Grandpa's (the babysitter) determines the nap length. It can be 15 minutes....it can be 2 hours.

My daughter is normally in bed somewhere between 8-9. She sleeps all night until about 8-9 in the mornings! It's wonderful because up until she about 8 months old she was up 2-3 times a night! Sometimes she will wake up and whine for a minute but she always goes straight back to sleep. She normally takes her nap anytime between 11-1 and sleeps for about 2 hours. She used to take 2 naps per day but since she has turned 1, I guess she gave that up!

Bedtime is about 7pm, she wakes up between 6:30-7:00 (she shares a room with her older sister so they play til 7:30)
She has a nap at about 9:30 til 11:30 ish.
Sometimes if she's tired in the afternoon, she will sleep in the pushchair on the way to pick big sis up from school.

Bed time is between 7-8pm and he will sleep awhole 12 hours straight!! Naps...He is starting to cut out his 2nd nap. But NORMALLY he will go for his 1st nap around 10-11am and sleeps almost 2 hours. Then a 2nd nap around 3:30pm and sleeps about an hour. Sometimes he clunks out around 5:30pm then I wake him at 7pm, and he will go back to bed at 9pm. He gets very cranky if he does not get enough sleep.

Wake up - 7am
Nap - 12pm
Nap - 4pm (Sometimes just one nap a day; Usually naps for 30 minutes to 1 hour)
Bed time - 9pm (Have tried hard to get her to go to sleep earlier but she usually rebels and then it takes much longer to get her to sleep than if I just wait until 9pm when she's tired.)

My daughter is a late night baby. Always has been. We've been trying to switch her schedule, but so fare no success.

Bed time: Between 10-11 pm (milk, brush teeth, cuddle time)

Wake up: Between 9-11 pm (wakes up between 6 & 7 and goes back to sleep until 9 or 11)

Nap time: Sometimes 2, sometimes 5 is naptime. She usually only has one nap a day if she naps at 5; 2 naps if she naps at 2.

The late night schedule works for us because I don't work outside of the home & my husband works late. She's just not an early riser or one to go to bed early.

[deleted account]

She is shifting her schedule a little bit, but for now it looks like this
7p.m. - bedtime (sometimes she'll play in her crib before falling asleep. Not crying but rolling around and such)
7-7:30 - wake up
10 and 3 are naps but they can fluctuate a little bit. Sometimes she will refuse an afternoon nap altogether. ..

Usually (and preferably) our schedule is:

Bedtime 7:30, start routine at 7
Wake 6:30 or 7
Naps at 10 - 11:30, 2:30 - 3:30 or 1 nap from 11 ish to 1:30ish

Okay, a 'normal' day:

Asleep by 7pm (bathtime at 6pm, then naked time, then bed)

Awake to start her day by 5am (she likes to wake up at 4:30am but this morning she didn't wake up till 5:30am, I'm a happy momma lol)

She sometimes still wakes up once a night, or maybe twice, but most of the time sleeps through.

She is generally down to one nap a day, usually from 8-10am or 9-11am (or somewhere in between, usually 2hrs though). If she has two naps a day it is usually a 1hr morning nap that she is awake by 9:30am from and then the afternoon nap is from 2-3 (or some variation). I am no longer letting her nap past 3pm though to make sure she's asleep by 7pm.

My daughter goes to bed by 8:00 (start bedtime routine at 7:30 earlier if bath night)

and she sleeps til 6:00 at least (sleeps thru). We wake her at 6:30 to go to grandma's, sometimes on the weekend she might sleep til 7:00 or later. Naps are at ten and three for about an hour each, pretty flexible on naps, whenever she seems sleepy. I wake her by 4:30 if she's still napping so she'll sleep at bedtime. Sometimes she only takes one longer nap in the middle of the day.
