Won't eat finger foods or stage 3 baby food!

Owen is 8mo 3 weeks. He is crawling and has 8 teeth already. He has mastered a sippy cup. He has his pincer grasp down pat. He won't touch or pick up anything I put on his tray. If we put stage 3 foods or mashed up table food in his mouth he gags and throws up some. I've tried all kinds of foods (bagels, frozen waffels, cheerios, puffs soaked in juice, spaghettio's, cooked carrots, cooked broccoli, avecado, cooked potato, gold firsh crackers, grahm crackers, banana chunks, biter bisquits, arrow root cookies, diced pear, diced peach, cottage cheese) It seems to me that he doesn't like to have his hands dirty, but even if we spoon feed anything other than smooth baby food he gags and throws up. I'm really looking forward to 12 months so we can move from expensive formula to milk (he weaned himself at 7 mo) but we won't be able to do that if he's not eating. Any tips would be helpful. Today my husband fed himself spaghetti with his hands and rubbed it all over his face in front of the baby. A priceless moment but Owen didn't even look amused. Help!

Did something eventually helped? My 20 month old oly eats stage 3 food, no finger food. We are going to start therapy as soon as space. Becomes available

Hi Sarah. I am having the SAME problem with my 9mo little girl, Gracie! Everything that you mentioned above happens to us, except my husband and the spaghetti thing! We will have to try that next! :-) She weaned herself at 6mo, so we are on EXPENSIVE formula also. I just took her to her 9mo checkup with her doctor, and he said not to worry about her not eating stage 3 or mashed up table food. He said to start out real slow. Maybe introduce a little stage 3 food mixed in with stage 2. He said that some babies freak out a little more than others about the whole texture thing with "solid" foods. She literally projectile vomits when something solid touches her lips!! It is very frustrating! Let me know if you learn something that works for you and Owen, and I will do the same for you. Have you spoken to your doctor/pediatrician about this? If he's still getting the proper nutrients from the stage 2 and 1 foods then I wouldn't be too concerned. My daughter took a few weeks to get used to the new sensations of stage 3 foods but now she can't get enough of it.
